Field of Dreams getting updated?!

Did anybody else see this?  Sorry, the link is to the OC Register (need to login to read the whole thing), but I'm sure other articles are on the net).  A Lawyer and her family bought the farm, and are planning to develop the property into a tournament baseball and softball complex.  They are planning to leave the original field, house, and barn in-tact, but the outfield back-drop will now include the lights from the surrounding fields...

 

I'm kinda leaning toward them doing whatever it takes to keep the field there for generations to come, though I'm hoping to make the pilgrimage next summer.

My company is involved in the environmental cleanup of the entire gigantic property, and nearly every building, street, and set has been razed and torn to the ground.

Saw a news story last night about some guy that has spent the last ten years making the condo in his living room look like the bridge of the Star Trek enterprise. Now he has to tear it all out because he's getting divorced and they're putting the place up for sale.

I've been to Dyersville, IA to visit the Field of Dreams and it is amazing.  I went after hitting up a Cubs game, which is also pretty rad too.  I hope that if they are going to make any changes, it doesn't affect the original field and such.

I like how she's bringing back the ghosts of White Sox players, they had stopped that awhile ago.  It doesn't sound like she's going to really change anything but add to the area, makes me want to go back!

That would be a great draw, if they staged a couple of the scenes from the movies a few times a day!  I'm hoping to knock this trip off my bucket-list next summer; gettin some wood-bat hacks, playing some infield, and roaming the outfield shagging flies....

That was tough news about Downey Studios, but this post is about an iconic location in baseball lore....  Saying "Meh" about "Field of Dreams" has me wondering about your baseball fan hood.

We love movies because they connect us to memories and feelings.  I will not be able to brush them away from my face when I finally step cleat on that field.
