Here's an interesting thing.   Calhoun breaks his bat, and Victor and Gubi reference the Beltre bat breaks last night, and chuckle.  Gubi says, "we had a great conversation in the dugout with Richards before the game."

We all know the story now.   It's pretty funny.

How about instead of telling us "hey there was a funny story about broken bats," why not tell the story.

If you're the color guy, be colorful and share those tidbits.  This is my problem with Gubi.   Share some good stuff.

I'm surprised Victor didn't tell the story.

This is where I feel like Salmon outshines Gubi.   He has stories.   We don't need any insight (although I do like the pitcher perspective.)  Give us something entertaining while we suffer through another night where our offense is lagging.

Not a bad guy. I've actually had dinner/drinks with him. And I'm pretty sure he used to be on the radio on 690 or something like ten years ago, either with his own show or as a regular guest. I think it was late night. Insightful on pitching. Just not bringing me what I like.

I, uh, used to drag my family to Sizzler once a year for my bday dinner for AYCE shrimp. That lasted about three years before my Dad made new rules about bday dinners.

You never went for the AYCE shrimp and salad bar with steak? Shame. Go find one today and indulge.

So if Mike Trout is busted with an ounce of cocaine next week the Angels are going to have a "zero tolerance policy" for this "illegal drug use?"

I think this is a great deal for the Rangers. I'd jump at the chance to lock up Hamilton for $7,000,000. This could turn out to be a steal for them.

I don't like Hamilton's attitude the entire time he was here. His lack of effort added to that made me dislike him. He didn't fulfill his end of the agreement so he is the one who put himself in this situation. He needs to be accountable for his actions.

As far as Arte goes he needs to let the baseball people he hired to do their job and not come in and over rule things. In his mind he it trying to help the team get better quick so his heart was in the right place. There is no way I can dislike him as an owner. He does need to quit signing over age ball players to long expensive contracts that handcuffs the payroll.

The bottom line is we need to stop these kinds of signings and build the club with young cost controlled players and fill in the voids with low to mid level FA's with short term contracts. JD has done a nice job so far with the pitching staff. Let's see what he can do for the offense.

I completely agree with the article. Hamilton isn't blameless, he's human. Granted, Texas doesn't look like a contender, but we just handed them a firmer MVP with a chip on his shoulder and the drive to stick it to his fomer employer.
This may or may not make Texas better, but when Hamilton goes on a HR hitting tirade against us, directly costing us wins, that could adversely effect out chances at making the playoffs.
As far as I can tell, the Angels will need all of those thry can get. They should've kept Hamilyon, if for the sole reason that he doesn't play against them.
    Total utter stupidity.

My guess is that Arte isn't as much upset about Hamilton's relapse as he is about his performance and, more so, his own foolishness at signing him in the first place. In a way the relapse is just a red herring for the real issue: Arte made a terrible business decision and is blaming Josh and his addiction for it.

I do agree with what the article implies, that on paper at least, the Angels are better with Josh than without him - unless, of course, they bring someone in to replace him. But Hamilton's upside in left field is much higher than what the Angels have to put out there: Joyce, Cowgill, Green, Brown, etc. It is a tough pill to swallow, but the Angels are a better team with Hamilton on the field than without him.

    I was a custodial engineer.
I don't hate Arte. I just don't revere him. I didn't like his approach in this. He wants to blow 68-mil OK. I appreciate that he spends, he just hasn't been prudent in his spending.
In the bigger picture I'm waiting for the shoe to drop and he announces he's moving the team somewhere else. If they stay in the renovated dump they're in, which I like, or they get a new stadium, I'll still support them.
As someone said earlier, I don't need another Jerry Jones here. Disney and the Autrys had their shortcomings. But get the right people and trust them. As was said earlier, the Disney-Stoneman relationship got a championship.
