I love Trout to death. He's been my favorite player since day one and the reason I watch their games still... but..... This is getting ridiculous. He knows damn well the team can't succeed with him being on the IL for half a season. 
It's a mild form of Rendon 2.0 except he's a fan favorite so we support him.  at this point, he should consider a change to corner outfield where he can limit the stress on his body.

Judge makes $360 million for 9 seasons, starting this his age 31 season.  If Ohtani focuses on DH in 2024 (age 30 season) and then RF the following 9 seasons, someone will offer him 10 years/$450 million tops.

Curt gives the current Padres as an example of a lot of talent that just can't play together and get it done.  He also said that the 2004 Sox didn't gel until they got rid of Garciaparra and brought in Orlando Cabrera and Doug Mientkiewicz.  He gave an example of one of the Red Sox hispanic stars (he wouldn't say the name) who was in the training room claiming that he couldn't play that night.  Orlando Cabrera came in, looked at the lineup, said "what's up amigo?" and then said, "I'm going out to take batting practice now.  When I come back in, if you're not in the lineup, we're going to fight!"  The player was in the starting lineup that night.

Stepping on the toes of Rendon would result in... ah, never mind. Too easy.

I think Rendon could be a clubhouse leader if he was healthy, but he never is.
Trout’s just not that guy, personality wise, and Ohtani’s primary language obviously isn’t English.
Ironically, maybe they need to bring in someone who can step on the toes of those guys, such as Chapman.

If you're not listening to the Curt Schilling Baseball Podcast, you should give it a chance.  Curt says that if it's up to the manager to fix this crap, then it's a lost cause.  Teams with good clubhouse leadership take care of this themselves.  Multi-millionaire players are rarely motivated by the manager, but they ARE motivated by other established players.  IMO, we haven't had this type of leadership since Torii Hunter.
The Angels are an especially difficult group for someone to become that leader, because that would involve stepping on the toes of Trout, Rendon, and Ohtani.  It's unfortunate that our 3 biggest stars just don't have the tools to command a clubhouse (Ohtani's problem is the language barrier, he certainly commanded Team Japan.)

I was quite bummed when Figureoa and Mickey Rivers got sent to the f'in Yankees in the Bobby Bonds trade. They were my 2 favorite non-Ryan Angels at the time
