EDinTUSTIN reacted to Sarah Jerome Williams in A Case for Blanton over Williams
Just one quick reply here, as someone who has been around for majority of Jerome's career... I can vouch that he is almost always a better second half pitcher and usually starts out slow. This year has been a good one because the only time he started out slow was in the spring. That being said he will do what he has to do to help the team, no matter what role it is. His one negative for himself is a positive for the team in that he is versatile and can pitch either role.

LOL  Sometimes you face a team that is on fire at the wrong time for you. We ran into some very tough pitching, not much you can do other than tip your cap. Their starter could have been mistaken as Randy Johnson by the way he kept our hitters off balance and intimidated. Hell, I had to double check my eyesight and look at the historical calander a bit to find out where I needed to be - I could have sworn, by the way he pitched, that their closer was Rollie Fingers.

We usually only mention the Rangers when one of you trolls come to this website and start talking shit. Quick question, how many of us went to whatever your equvalint of RangersWin is and talked shit on you after being one strike away, twice? The answer is probably zero, we have better things to do.

The only thing that matter in the end, well, was the end. We won! I have made my share of criticisms, and I am not a fan of the squeeze play, but Aybar the dunce didn't help matters much. I will say that Mike refuses to throw in the towel, and he is keeping his team believing that they can get the job done. Granted, they are not playing elite teams, but they are now beating some teams that they are supposed to. While I believe that he and his coaching staff did a poor job at preparing the squad to open the season, this team did not implode.

EDinTUSTIN reacted to AZMike in Mike Trout First To Double Digits (HR 10 | SB 10)
might be worth trying Bourjos in LF just to start things out, not because I believe Trout is incapable of hitting while playing LF, but because covering less ground is probably good if Bourjos is coming back from a hamstring injury.

That is sound thinking. The only thing the PB, who is also a great CF, has over Trout is a stronger throwing arm. LOL, though, at those who keep saying that Trout has a Johnny Damon arm. He does not, he has one with decent carry, average velocity for the position, but has a quick release and is accurate. Trout should be in centerfield, that is where his comfort level is. He has earned that. PB will be just fine as a leftfielder.

This guy is not a pitcher, he's a thrower. Depended on his stuff on the way through the minors and never really learned command or how to actually pitch well.
Making him a starter is not going to make him suddenly figure it out. It will just lose us more games

I have to agree. This confidence stroking for grown men is a bunch of crap. When he is given the opportunity to pitch, no matter in what position or what inning he needs to produce. If he is going to get his shot, he is going to have to make the most of it. He can't come in when his team has fought back and taken a good lead and give up 4 runs and walking everybody in sight. The bottom line is, well, the bottom line, and his stats look like crap!

There will be no need. Sosh already has him on the plane headed back to Arkansas. I heard that he is not yet completely stretched out, and the kid needs more seasoning.

A couple of guys scuffled abit tonight, but we were squarin up some balls, but the Sox were in the right position almost every time. The only fly in the ointment is that a few of our hitters are not quite stretched out yet. Guys are startin to come around a bit, and gettin to where they need to be. Some guys are grindin, but nothin you can do but tip your cap.

When is there a good loss? This was a terrible loss, like all of them. I am not sure what any imbecile would see in Barry Enright that he should pitch in a major league game. 2 innings and 7 earned runs with no strikeouts? It is not like he even pitched well in the minors. The kid just isn't talented enough at this level. What rockheaded fool would ever think otherwise. (Rhetorical, of course, as most of us know the answer to that question) Damn, just damn@!

They sure did. It is good to have some teams in SoCal that either meet or exceed expectations. The Ducks game was exciting. I can't say enough good things about their organization, players, and head coach. This is a well run, organized, and disciplined organization.

EDinTUSTIN got a reaction from EE_ in Scott Kazmir 10 strikeouts vs Oakland
Nobody blamed Butcher for Kazmir's slide. He was damaged goods, and already had gone downhill prior to acquistion. What Butcher has been criticized for is his claim that he could 'fix' Kazmir and get him straightened out. Under Butcher's watch Kazmir showed no improvement at all. That is not necessarily Butcher's fault, Kazmir has to look inward for blame, but Mike Butcher certainly didn't help or become part of the solution either.
