  1. Not a pessimistic view at all. All you said is all we have to go on. They are just a bunch of what if's.
  2. Sept 17, 1993 Nolan Ryan's return to Anaheim with the Rangers. Nolan Pitches in front of a sold out crowd of 60k, strike out the final batter and exits to a standing ovation. Angels won 2-1.
  3. Problem is that there is not one Angels pitcher that has been consistent for 2 or more years in a row, as most said.
  4. What would you classify as being bothered by losing. Throwing his glove, breaking his bat, cursing during interviews? There is no universal way to deal with losing. But I will say that: Losing is a disease... as contagious as polio Losing is a disease... as contagious as syphilis Losing is a disease... as contagious as bubonic plague Attacking one... but infecting all But curable! So leave Trout alone!
  5. This is ridiculous. Home team has a major advantage. They know how aggressive to be based on the visitors results.
  6. Would just be nice to see him in Angels uniform again.
  7. Need to clarify something before I answer. Does GM get the 3 balls off the plate strike zone in this hypothetical discussion? If so, then Maddux for me.
  8. I think shrinking the strike zone will increase HR. Guys will be allowed to be more selective. Need to increase the strike zone so guys will swing a less than their primary pitches.
  9. Are you saying that Bauer is not coming to Anaheim? Or does not want to come here?
  10. No, they can compete with the Dodgers. No longer a cupcake division.
  11. I dont like them because when I was young I took alot of abuse from them as an Angel fan. Plan and simple.
  12. This is my view as well. If there are enough people from the particular group of interest that would like a name changed, then do it. But for a non-member to think that their opinion matters is a joke.
  13. Yes, I agree. You should not name a team the Cherokees, for example. I was referring to words/names like Braves or warriors etc... These are names of respect, at least how I envision them. Redskins, however, is offensive as it reduces a people to their skin color.
  14. I can see your point if the action is offensive in and of itself. But if white people are reenacting a native ritual out of respect, then it should not be offensive. As to your example, I dont know how native people feel but would respect their opinion. I guess both sides should respect the intent and context of a given action.
  15. If that is the consensus, then I dont have an argument against their desires or an opinion. I just am fed up with everyone virtue signaling some unrealized offense. Reasonable one's as you've shown are justified. But I disagree with the last phrase in the sentence, " appropriation of Native Culture". No one has the right to claim ownership over a name. As long as that name is not offensive. For example, Braves. This represents what Native Warriors were called and should not be offensive. Just my opinion.
