  1. True, sort of. Lets say they haven't sucked but pitching includes bullpen and well...
  2. It allows for optimism but what about the bullpen?
  3. If he finishes the way he is playing now, yes.
  4. Not just that, this 5 game winning streak is due to offense not pitching. Offenses do not stay hot.
  5. And dont get me wrong, I would love to have him here regardless of that ERA.
  6. NOt sure what you mean but I was joking. Get it 4.84 would be an ace here.
  7. See how bad a move it was going to the Yanks. 4.84 is a dam ace here in Anaheim.
  8. Toronto wasn't hamstrung by Pujos and Upton contracts
  9. This is good. Now we need 5 more of these type starts from GC in a row and we will be in better shape.
  10. I appreciate you optimism but I still see two maybe three what if's in that rotation and, as you said, the bullpen is year to year.
  11. The whole staff is Rudy Stein. None can find the dam zone, much less pitch effectively within it.
  12. Closer to competing but not quite. That is only two pitcher, what about the bullpen and other 3 starters? Then, what about depth? We are 4-5 years from competing unless we get extremely lucky.
  13. Roy Hobbs went two weeks without a hit.
  14. So he is the same as Bundy except Bundy is major league ready. This sounds exactly like a deal the Angels will take, morons!!!
  15. I agree but what you list are not "it" factors. Those are all basic baseball skills. As others have said, it looks like he has never been on a field beyond maybe high school.
  16. I would have disagreed with you before the season but after seeing how many holes he has, I doubt he can ever turn this around enough to be a game changer. Maybe an average player but not a game changer.
  17. OK, I stand corrected. But now to this I say Kiss my ass (the unwritten rule). Bring that 3-0 cheese and see what happens.
  18. There is really no way to tell. They are all 50:50 guys (starters-- the bullpen sucks), one good outing followed by a disastrous one. Probably lots of 3 game winning streaks followed by 5 game losing streaks. They would have finished somewhere between 5-10 games under .500
  19. I understand everything you said but I still dont know how people were so optimistic about the season going into it with this pitching staff. Everyone was a big "what if". Ohtani was our best and he has not even proven anything at this level. Everyone else is no better than a number 3-4 starter which means they are .500 on average and can swing either way above or below that mark. This year is the first year we've drafted any pitcher considered a good prospect (my opinion) since Weaver.
  20. And I suppose you are saying that you forgot the paddles?
  21. I mean I saw their plan, and to be fair it has been derailed by injury and death. They felt they had two good number twos in Heaney and Scaggs. Then Canning and Sandoval coming up with a large ceiling. And finally, Ohtani was the big signing of the ace-type pitcher. The problem is that all of these guys are over-rated. Heaney and Scaggs were both 4-5 guys at best with as many bad days as good. Canning and Sandoval are probably 3-5 guys at best and as said Ohtani cant stay healthy. The people evaluating talent just plain suck.
  22. I need more on this. What philosophy is there? You scout and know hitters tendencies and you hit your spots. Harvey could throw strikes and when he did, they were all Broadway.
