  1. Played baseball all my life, umpired for almost 20 years and I have never heard of you cant swing on a 3-0 count. NO bunting during a no-hitter is stupid but I've heard of this one. I think they are making this sht up as they go.
  2. Because last season went into the garbage "can", so their is nowhere to go but up.
  3. With no ace, 2 possible number 2s (both can easily be 3s), and 3 4-5s. This pitching staff can be better but will they?
  4. I agree, being that it does divert from what, I think, most who say BLM intend. But the BLM movement has been hijacked by antifa and marxists and this is a response to their corruption of the intention. Portland has been in a state of constant riot for 50+ days and are attacking everyone. Do they care about racial justice? We need to distinguish good people from bad, this is just a fact now. Plus the BLM organization advocates for the destruction of the husband/wife nuclear family so I cant support this as the destruction of the family is one of the main sources of problems that cause inequality in the first place.
  5. Not necessarily, we need less Joe West and Angel Hernandez. As long as an umpire is not one of these two, I could care less what color they are.
  6. Pretty sure hot dogs, beer , and baseball cures this thing.
  7. These fans will be as knowledgeable as Dodger fans.
  8. I think you miss my point as well. I acknowledge the bias you point out. I am speaking from a solutions' perspective and pointing out that baseball's problems are deeper than just in minority communities (maybe I am viewing the problem in a more global view, I dont know). Yes everyone has bias and AAs suffer from more in many circumstances, that I am not denying. BUt baseball has not done a good job on any front, in any community to promote the sport. IN regards to another matter pointed out, I dont know if you can grow the sport in inner cities to the same extent than in other communities just due to space. Can fields be built? I dont know. If they can, then by all means they should . Baseball is missing a hell of a lot of good potential players by leaving these communities out.
  9. Either way baseball would benefit for such an investment and I can agree with you.
  10. As you eluded, baseball would have to adopt a point system for this to work. Not sure how this would effect strategy with regards to pitching. I think starters would pitch alot less perhaps as managers would be quick to pull pitchers. So one effect could be that a good win total for a starter would be 10 wins. Perhaps batting would then suffer and run totals would go down.
  11. I agree with almost everything you said but my point was that there is still no place to play. You make a good point that most baseball is played in academies/private facilities and that does exclude anyone that is not well to do. I am not denying those facts but baseball has an even bigger problem because alot of Americans are being excluded from play. The Point you make in 2 is not lazy but a fact, that AA culture does not like baseball. Although, this is not exclusively the sole problem, it does contribute. If a kid loves baseball, there are ways to play (this is probably alot harder for an AA kid but not impossible). I agree that baseball should reach out more, no doubt. As we are missing alot of possible good talent and this lessens the quality of the game.
  12. I get what you are saying but my point was that there is literally nowhere to play for anybody. If someone purchases land for baseball development it would still probably be exclusive to that person or their baseball academy/league etc... The average kid would still be shut out (regardless of race). This is a baseball problem that now extends beyond the inequity that you mention. As far as equipment, you are right but kids need to be educated on how to procure free equipment. Such as writing letters to foundations or even MLB for help. I would bet they could get equipment this way (this is not to deny it is harder for AA kids to get than others).
  13. Explain how white financial advantage results in more baseball participation. Ownership, maybe a better argument, but participation? Baseball participation is down, especially among black people, is based on culture and availability. Culturally, most dont like baseball, period. Second, there are no fields to play on, anywhere. Even in suburban areas there are no fields, they are all locked. This becomes worse for inner city youth who cant play on streets due to massive traffic and other difficulties. Curious to hear how you suggest they increase participation.
  14. Unless you count being able to fart without shitting, then I have scored that many.
  15. Dam that's right, we have Rendon. I almost forgot.
