angelsnationtalk got a reaction from Deek in Thoughts on Trevor Bauer?
i think @Jeff Fletcher said it best with his tweet.
It's a clubhouse culture Perry is trying to create. Bauer is probably at the end of that list to add.

He also said he prioritizes defense. Haven't seen a ton of evidence of that. Bauer wouldn't be the first lousy person Perry has brought in. Not saying we'll pursue him - I don't think we will - just noting that sometimes people put too much weight on certain statements.

The biggest problem for Bauer is that his teammates seem to hate him. If that weren't the case, I'd take him. Especially on the dodgers dime.

I can see someone like the Rangers picking up Bauer if available.

If the sale is approved before opening day then it's not his money they are using.
I still think a new owner is already lineup up and has approved the payroll increase.

Props to Arte or props to the new owner? I don't think anything would have changed if Arte wasn't selling the team.
Someone must be telling Arte you can do what you want if the sale is hopeful to be finalized Opening Day.
Even if it is Arte, i'm still not happy. Where was this 5 years ago????

I’m digging Eovaldi as an option quite a bit. His addition would make the rotation a definite strength, even if Suarez winds up subtracted.
I’m not totally sure a SS would be the trade target anymore. I really think they’re comfortable with Fletcher/Rengifo/Soto/Squid/etc… I could see them exploring the trade market for SP/CP (Hendrix?) help as much as they would be shopping for SS.

Not going over the tax confirmed.
I cringe every time I hear he's hands on with the negotiations.
Unless he knows Perry is trying to make a good trade so Arte stepped in to make sure they signed Drury

For sure. It’s more that they seem to be actively shopping Rengifo, and seemingly have been for some time, that makes me think it could be feasible.
Could always see a three-team deal play out too.

Just finish the job and round out the roster. They can’t make his signing official until they remove someone from the 40 man roster. So if it’s a trade then we would have to make it a 2 for 1 trade. I can’t see us trading anyone on the 40 man to pick up a piece that doesn’t need to be protected. So if it’s a trade you almost feel like it’s a pitcher and an infielder going for either a SS or a better pitcher. Or they will simply release Velazquez.

I'd be OK with it, depending on the return.
I wouldn't just give him away because a couple infielders have been added.

DO NOT TRADE Rengifo!!!! Come on people - just because you can, doesn’t mean you should…..!!!!
Rengifo carried this lineup far more than Ward did last season (and I’m not hating on Ward)… I think Rengifo is proving to be special…. Not spectacular, but an exceptional “glue guy”…!
I love how Minasian is tightening the screws on Rendon!!! Prove to the club we can count on you, or we’ll move on….
We get it… you’re too blessed to be stressed… and you and the Vernon Wells of the world can enjoy your umbrella drinks on some island while clowning about how your mediocrity got over on some MLB club… or you can demonstrate some personal pride and teach your kids what it means to earn a paycheck….

They could probably trade Ward or Rengifo now. Either has decent value.

What is even going on right now. This might make sense if Perry and Nevin have found some weird loophole in the shift rules that allow them to play two second basemen all year.
"Angels figure out how to play 162 games without a SS with this one weird trick."

Or they are gearing up for the biggest mid-season trade off in MLB history...

Unless Rengifo is going to start getting regular reps in OF, this seems like it really crowds them infield.
Rengifo to Detroit for Soto or some such maybe?

Angels going for the record for most platoon players in a lineup. Honoring Scioscia's legacy.

Seems pretty clear they punted on raising the ceiling in favor of the floor. An argument can be made that it makes sense, they have enough star level players but almost zero room for error.
Now they have a ton of room for error, hopefully they didn't "error" in their decision making.
