LightTheHalo reacted to Brandon in Orange County Register: Simers: Here's hoping Angry Arte can carve out time for a good cause
Almost, almost like the old days with juggernauts of AW mixing words.
MT led well, but LTH didn't bite hard enough.
I thought some of the newbs would get an AW history lesson. It's like Mookie Blaylock and Chris Sabo coming out of retirement to battle it out in a steel cage.

LightTheHalo reacted to stormngt in Angels discussing 6yr extension with Mike Trout - Yahoo
I don't have time to read all seven pages right now. However, I have to respond to the rumor. If true, this would be a very stupid move by the Angels. 160 million for six years only buys out two years of FA. Basically we would be paying trade fair market value right now when he still has four years of club control left. Trout gets the benefit of a long term contract. He gets insurance against injury. What do the Angels get? Two extra years!
Trout is only guaranteed 500 K this year. The record for first year ARB is 10 million, the record for second year ARB I believe is 15 million and the record for final year ARB is 18 million. That is 43.5 million....NON guaranteed (injuries). That means we are paying Trout 115 million for 2 years of FA. That is insane. I don't care how good you are.
The Angels should tell they want another two years if he wants the big contract. If Trout doesn't want it, than tell his agent he will get 500 k this year and lets hope he doesn't get hurt. You don't pay a guy fair market value while he has four years of club control unless he gives something back.....and that should be years.

The 2014 season starts out on a high note. Man, this is depressing news.

LightTheHalo got a reaction from Chuck in Mariners Sign Scott Baker
It's possible the Angels did try to sign him, folks. Let's not assume just because he signed with somebody else that the Angels weren't a player.

This is of course, ignoring trout.

Why would anybody do that?! ;-)

LightTheHalo got a reaction from Halos of Anaheim in Do the Angels Have the Next Robinson Cano?
Pssshhhh. Mike Trout was better than both of them in his age 21 season. ;-)

LightTheHalo got a reaction from red321 in Jeff Fletcher Predicts: Garza to Angels
The Angels have no choice but to try to win now. That's why they signed Pujols and Hamilton. You don't sign guys on the other side of 30 to enormous contracts in order to have them help you rebuild for a couple of seasons.
Whether or not they have the pieces to be "championship caliber" is another debate, but they're not going to bide their time for a couple of seasons while they're paying Pujols and Hamilton $50M a year.

It's better than Nolan Ryan. Sigh.

LightTheHalo got a reaction from Amazing Larry in Maddux and Larussa go into HOF with no logo
I absolutely think of Maddux as a Cub and Brave. He was his most dominant with the Braves, but he won his first Cy Young with the Cubs and more than 100 games.
