Damn, wanted Howie. Kinsler's performance this year was not too good while Howie was hitting the ball well.

Why would the Red Sox be afraid of Sale facing Stanton? Stanton's like the most overrated player in the league. People act like he's great. He is a very good hitter but streaky. In fact, he is an all or nothing hitter. He's never even hit .300 in a season. Lets not act like he's prime Miggy or Pujols, or even Trout. Sale owned Judge last season. 0-12 with 10 strikeouts. He'll own Stanton as well. 

This past season was the second straight year that Archer has disappointed. Second year in a row that his ERA was over 4. Before that, he was a really good pitcher from 2013-2015. I wouldn't give up a a lot for Archer right now unless he can pitch like he did prior to 2016. He has great stuff but I need to see the results back to being good, not average.

Last year Archer's name was in trade rumors but a trade never materialized. However the Rays are receiving a lot of interest this off-season too:

He would be a hard one to get as I mentioned in the Primer Series but if we managed to add him now on top of Ohtani we would have a lethal 1-2-3 at the top of the rotation. This would be a really tough nut for the Angels to crack but we have not expended any of our serious prospect capital this off-season so we still have potential ammo. It just depends on what the Rays are trying to accomplish: a re-tool to shed some salary (which the Angels can accommodate) while still competing in the A.L. East or are they entering a short rebuild in 2018 to compete heavily in 2019+?
Does a trade of Andrew Heaney, C.J. Cron, Jordon Adell, Chris Rodriguez, and Taylor Ward get it done? Do we try to shoot even higher to include Alex Colome by including Keynan Middleton in the trade as well? Is it too much in your eyes? Too little?
Remember that Archer's AAV for 2018 and 2019 is ONLY $4.25M per year. After that he has two option years at $9M and $11M (still insanely cheap). If we acquired him we'd still be under the Luxury Tax threshold by about $45M! We could use that money to extend Richards, Maldonado, and Trout, among others, no problem. Alternatively you could allocate some of it to a guy like Mike Moustakas or Zack Cozart (or both).
Food for thought. Archer's impact on payroll is almost as good as Ohtani's.

Big "if" but obviously if Otani and Richards can both stay healthy and live up to expectations, then you have two aces right there. I just do not know how much trust people should have in Richards since he gets hurt every year, it seems.

I only ask because they’re in our division but how were Darvish’s numbers against the Astros minus the World Series?
Ive always liked Darvish and never felt good when the Angels had to go up against him
edit: he faced them twice in June.
Went 5, giving up 3 and striking out 8 (in Texas)
Then he went 7, giving up 1 and striking out 4 (in Houston)

i don't think the Angels would want him at 6/160. Nor should they.
He pitched way more like himself while he was with the Dodgers.  And Kershaw sucked often in the playoffs too. It happens even to the best of them.
His numbers were much better away from Arlington. And he really only had one terrible month (7+ ERA).
He was still one of the best pitchers in baseball.

I think today is his wedding day, and if so, I would guess it is happening in his home town area, where they are getting an early season snow storm. 
Hopefully the new Mrs Trout will tell Mike she is done with the Northeast weather, and to sign an extension with the Angels

Big "if" but obviously if Otani and Richards can both stay healthy and live up to expectations, then you have two aces right there. I just do not know how much trust people should have in Richards since he gets hurt every year, it seems.

Byrd had a nice year in his only season with the club in 2005. I remember him, also had a funny windup before he delieved a pitch. One of the few Angels free agent signings that went right it seems.

2016 Pujols was still an above average hitter. His OBP was just .323, which is decent but still had a solid .780 OPS. It's possible that he could put up a .780 OPS but he is going to have an extra good month next year and not have a month where his OPS was under .600, like how he performed in the month of June this past season. 

Difference is that Ryan also had a lot more great years than Weaver but with other teams. If Weaver had like 5-6 more great years, he would be a HOF as well.

The 2012 Angels should definitely get Howie Kendrick.
