ScruffytheJanitor reacted to Angels#1Fan in Angels sign Doug Fister, pending physical
This is the picture I get:
Record setting mountainteer
Big game hunter
7 digit income
Lives in Alaska
Predicted (in 2014/15?) Trout would never hit .300 again and should be traded while the Angels could get something for him.
Full of crap.

How long did it take for you to think this up,.......oh, never mind.
We could have a certification program for new posters, some of them need a lot of help.

Sure. Fire him. It should solve the talent and injury issues.

Is it his fault this teams starting rotation's 1-4 is on the DL?
Is it his fault this teams top three bullpen arms are on the DL?

At some point, you'd think the commute would have killed him.

So Trout will absolutely want to play at home, back east but Moustakas won't want to play at home in Ca?

ScruffytheJanitor reacted to Second Base in Where's the Love for Meyer?
As long as Meyer can even be halfway acceptable, you keep him in the rotation. He has the upside to put it together with more experience. He should only be moved to the bullpen if he simply can't find the strike zone or he can't maintain his velocity beyond 50 pitches. Today, neither of those were a problem.

The entire lineup outside of Trout has been a letdown.

Who would want to be a free agent at 35?
-
ScruffytheJanitor reacted to fan_since79 in Lock Trout Down
6 years/$240 million. A cool $40 mill per season.
Locks him down for a good long time (ten seasons counting this year) without breaking the Angels' bank, and also gives Trout a chance to be a free agent again at age 35.

I'd like Tanner Houck, and I also wouldn't mind Randall Romero (assuming you clear him psychologically). I'm going to be cheering for Michael Gigliotti, as I am Lipscomb Alumn and it's wicked cool to see a player that has a chance to be a top-20 pick (though 10 is probably too high for him, sadly). I think the Angels are in a great position, because I think that if the draft goes chalk then they should have some good hitters there for the taking, and if the hitters go a little early one of the great group of pitchers could fall to them. While I think we'd all love a Majors-ready pitcher to come in and be our #3 starter next year, we aren't a good enough system yet to be that choosy.
When your worst-case scenario is "one of a great group of college pitching," the Angels are in a great position to strike on Draft day.
Also: If we don't draft "Brock Deatherage" in the 2nd round, I am going to lose my faith in humanity. That is a terrific name.

It would also make the draft more enjoyable for its viewers, just like the NFL draft.
What if a team doesn't have the prospects to get a trade done, but they have a top 5 pick in next year's draft? I could easily see that team trading away its top pick the following year for a player that will help them win it NOW.

Smith will have options so I could see him and Meyer sharing a rotation spot once he's stretched out.

Awesome - this will be really interesting. Gibbons has absolutely raked so far - .346/.426/.497/.922 over 351 PAs last year against younger competition and this year in hitting friendly Cal League. 22 SBs (9 CS) and 41 BB to 37 K.
If he can keep hitting in AA his stock could start to rise.

ScruffytheJanitor reacted to JustATroutFan in Angels acquired RHP David Hernandez from the Braves for a player to be named later or cash considerations.
If 2012 Hernandez, 2016 Bedrosian, 2014 Street, 2014 Morin, and 2009 Bailey were all on this Angels team right now, they might have the best bullpen that I have ever seen. And the starters would only need to go 6 innings per start.
