When I saw the first picture, I was kinda hoping that it was just the barrel bar (which looks awesome, btw) in one corner, a life-size cutout of Shigetoshi Hasegawa in another corner, and a single folding chair in the middle.

I am currently living just over the border in Western KY (Mayfield... right where the Tornados hit). My in-laws are from Dickson County, and my Brother lives in Lebanon. Tennessee is a GREAT place to live.

My best suggestion -- do the Bourbon Trail in small bits. Seriously, there are so many distilleries, and it's such a relaxing 2-3 day weekend.  This might seem like common sense, but I've known too many people that try to do like 12 distilleries in 4 days, and it gets old quickly. We like to do three or four at a time, staying in Lexington or Louisville and hitting some good restaurants. Also: don't forget to get chocolates. Even some of the crappier bourbon (Evan Williams cough cough) tastes pretty fucking good when it's in chocolate.

Beautiful home Chuck.  We, too, were astounded by property values here vs. in the West.  We doubled our square footage too, when we moved... while actually paying less than our house in Vegas.  Unreal.
We're an hour away from Louisville, so a Bats game would be awesome... also I have season tickets to UK Baseball, if you'd like to come up and check out an SEC baseball game someday.  (Sounds like we also have to connect with @pattimelttoo!). I'll circle back once the season is underway and we'll make some plans.  It'll be good to reconnect!
Edited to add: the Louisville Slugger museum is definitely worth the trip.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Chuck!  What part of Tennessee are you in?  I moved from Las Vegas to Lexington, KY about 6 years ago.  About 3 hours from here to Nashville and my daughter is attending college in Memphis.  We might need to take in a Nashville Sounds game together someday.

I would love Rodon. I think the 6 man rotation would serve him well similarly to how it could help Syndergaard. I would imagine he would get a contract along the lines of 3yr/60mil

ScruffytheJanitor reacted to Second Base in Fun story to pass the time...(Marsh-Meyer)
I was reading a MLBTR chat earlier and they mentioned the Marsh-Meyer trade negotiations from last year. It reminded me of a conversation I had with an old friend who works in the front office from a division rival of the Marlins.
He obviously didn't have a horse in this race but the feeling was that the Marlins discussed Meyer with several teams but the Angels talked with them at length and they felt Meyer was headed out of the division to Anaheim. But he said a couple things that stuck in my mind.
First, the Angels didn't give them a firm no on Marsh-Meyer. He said that Minasian "has to feel good about their pitching depth" and that it didn't make sense to acquire Meyer when they already had "that Detmers kid". I think what he was getting at is that Perry wanted to see more of Detmers before deciding to trade Marsh because the Meyer-Detmers timeline is similar. I'd always perceived this as Meyer joining the next wave of Angels starters which included Sandoval, Suarez and Detmers, but it might be more accurate to view this as Meyer replacing one of those in that wave. Perry might be good with their depth and is more concerned with quality at the moment, as evidenced by Syndergaard and Lorenzen being gambles with the potential for a bigger payout. And that would explain why they didn't press Alex Cobb for an extension, they wanted more of a front of the rotation starter.
The second part was that there were multiple prospects involved on the Marlins end. They needed to add more to the deal to match what the Angels wanted for Marsh. I always picture teams like the Angels being desperate for pitching, but maybe teams in the Marlins position are just as desperate for the kind of high end talent the Angels have built up on the offensive end of things.
So I wonder if after seeing more of Detmers, if Perry is willing to readdress the concept of acquiring another high end pitching prospect in exchange for Marsh. Interesting concept.
My own personal view is that Upton is off the books after this year and may not factor into much in 2022 if his skill set further degrades. So holding onto both Marsh and Adell makes sense. And the team dumped Pujols partially because they wanted to get Walsh back over at 1B where he's a fine defender, but if they're comfortable at all with him in RF, maybe they should consider a 1B upgrade.

ScruffytheJanitor reacted to Angelsjunky in Would you trade Adell in a deal for Bryan Reynolds?
And why exactly would the Pirates make this trade? They'd be trading away an established star who is still only 27 for a potential star who is 23 (2022 ages) and has yet to put up better than replacement level performance...for one extra year of club control?
Reynolds is a good example as to why FV doesn't mean that much. He was a 45 FV prospect, which means he was projected to be a below average regular. Last year he had 5.5 WAR and 142 wRC+, both of which put him around 10th-11th in the majors. Given his rookie season in 2019 (130, 3.2) and age, there's no reason to think his 2021 performance isn't sustainable for the next half decade or so.
Or to put it another way, Reynolds' 2022 performance is about the best we can hope for from Adell. He'd do in a sexier way (with 40 HR, maybe), but while it is possible, it is unlikely that he'll be better than 5.5, and there's no guarantee he'll ever put up a 5 WAR season.
If I'm the Pirates, I'm not trading Reynolds for Adell. And the trade simulator seems to agree with me: they value Reynolds at 85, Adell at 19. I personally think they undervalue Adell (they have Marsh at 47.3), but even if we double Adell's value, they still need to throw in a huge package to acquire Reynolds - at least Detmers.
So a more reasonable question would be: Would you trade Adell (or Marsh) and Detmers for Reynolds?

The Times is weird. They are the polar opposite of the Wall Street Journal; their editorial board is super left wing, but they do about 1/2 (if not more) of the good, actual reporting done by all mainstream news sources (even if it is hidden under headlines that slant hard left). The Wall Street Journal editorial board shades to the right (though much less than they used to), and their actual reporting is mostly garbage.
