I doubt Arte keeps Perry on. He hired Nevin to be his puppet. (And before Swordsman gives me shit, I believe what Maddon wrote in his book. Even more so after they pulled Ohtani for Stefanic in the game I was at in Toronto for CRAMPS....Montgomery being Bench coach...reinforces the bullpen Matrix bullshit) They need to hire someone like Theo Epstein as President of the Club. Let him pick the GM, let him pick the new manager.

Yes, but so had last years, and people were quick to want to forgive Nevin for that. But Maddon got fired after a losing streak?

People seem to like Nevin on here for some reason, and take Minasian's side against Joe Maddon. But this team is headed for a full regime change. Most blame Arte, but this isn't all on the owner. Yeah, he may not hire well, but despite Perry's decent trades and some good signings, this team is not good. Injuries, yes, but this is not all on injuries.
I tried to be optimistic, all year long, but three straight second half collapses, (well last year was in end of May, but still a collapse)... three straight losing records and three straight seasons where the team doesn't look like its getting any better? Minasian is getting fired. Nevin will not be back.
Since Scioscia left, this team has been BAD. You can say the last four years of Scioscia weren't great, (he also dealt with a lot of pitching injuries). But the record certainly speaks for itself.
    2019 -- 72-90.
    2020 -- 26-34 (which is a 70-92 pace).
    2021 -- 77-85.
    2022 -- 73-89
2023 -- 59-61 (80 win pace, but I doubt they finish that high).

    Scioscia's last 10 years
    2018 -- 80-82
    2017 -- 80-82
    2016 -- 74-88
    2015 -- 85-77
    2014 -- 98-64 (best record in MLB).
    2013 -- 78-84
    2012 -- 89-73
    2011 -- 86-76
    2010 -- 80-82
    2009 -- 97-65

SO who is a good GM or Manager Candidate for next year and beyond?

And I agree here. However, I dont think the team goes "back on the market" per se. They have a group or several groups who made pretty complete offers. He could just call them all back, say best and final, and I want to retain 10%-20%. And then one of them will take him up on that. And be done.

And it's entirely possible that Arte sells the team (or the majority of the team) quickly in the offseason. I actually think he'd stay on as a minority owner if given the chance.

Depends if Perry is still GM or if he also gets fired.
The two need to work seamlessly.
So if they fire both, they better hire the GM first and then let that guy pick the manager.
And if Perry is kept, he better get full autonomy to pick his manager after a full, comprehensive search.

    Some names that make sense…
If Perry is GM: Walt Weiss, Ron Washington, Sal Fasano, John Farrell, Will Venable, Troy Snitker, DeMarlo Hale.
If they look for a new GM: Sig Mejdal, Jon Daniels, Carlos Rodriguez, Josh Brynes, Craig Breslow.

Only when he's on waivers can he be claimed.

The D'Backs didn't have a need either time he was on waivers...they just moved Rojas from the MLB club to Seattle, Bliss was a AA/AAA midinfielder, and Canzone was more an OF, but Fletcher seemingly could offer the same OF coverage he did. He gives them cheap infield depth, and it's a better 'human' move than leaving him just burning up time in SLC while being paid millions...and it doesn't hurt Arizona's playoff hopes this year. Throw in the loss of their dad and there could be some energy getting them together.

Halos eat half the remaining money (not much) and take on maybe Mantiply or someone, throw in a Jeremiah Jackson-esque prospect, whatever.

I do wonder what they do when the guys on the 60 day IL need to be activated (Joyce, O'Hoppe).
They have more flexibility now with guys in the pen like Silseth, Soriano, Webb, etc... only Barria is in the pen without options. So if Bachman and Devenski come back soon, they can drop someone. Devenski doesn't have options, while Bachman does. So they don't need to activate Bachman in the majors the way they will with Devenski.
Neither C has options, to keep them in the organization, so that will complicate things when O'Hoppe comes back, which is why they likely don't add O'Hoppe back until at least 8-21 (Putting Wallach on the IL until they can expand rosters to 28 and add three catchers).
As far as Trout, Drury, Rendon, they will have a roster crunch on other position players. Velazquez and Stefanic are two of the three that will likely be sent down, but who is the 3rd (if Rendon comes back)? Again, it's not an issue when they go to 28 on Sept. 1.
I predict they will option Stefanic for Drury and then Velazquez for Trout, but then who knows.
For the 28-man expansion it will either be two position players (O'Hoppe and then Rendon), or one and one reliever. We'll see.

Rengifo hitting leadoff is one of the biggest issues I saw in the Two games I went to in Toronto. He is Willy Mays Hayes from Major League 2....trying to be a power hitter when he should've just put the ball in play. Lots of long fly ball outs when the batters in the 7-9 position were on. He also came up a lot with 2 outs it seemed like, and again, I was watching the game, not keeping score, so I may be wrong.
He's been hitting well in July, and hits well as a leadoff guy, only because it is where he's been this month and hitting in front of Ohtani helps.
But I'd still rather he hit 9th and Neto leadoff.

Sure he's streaky, but he's been milking walks all season -- its what made his early season struggles annoying for me because it's the part of the game that didn't transition from the minors to the majors last season and he WAS doing in April.
I'm legit starting to wonder if it's less a streaky thing and more a case of his being a slow starter.

It's retroactive to when he first was placed on the 10-day. And yes he was transferred to 60 when they acquired Giolito and Lopez.
