A pitching rotation says a lot about a baseball team's prospects for dominating in an upcoming season. I began my fantasy draft prep today by familiarizing myself with the rankings of MLB starting pitchers. The analysis I chose to lead off with divided the list into 8 tiers, with the categories named FIRST ROUND, ALSO ELITE, NEAR ELITE, NEXT BEST, FALLBACKS, START OF GLOB, END OF GLOB and THE LEFTOVERS. The writer used the word Glob to denote pitchers who were difficult to judge because of their consistent inconsistency in recent seasons. The CBS Sports writer listed not one Angel in the first six categories. Detmers was midway through END OF GLOB. Silseth, Canning, and Sandoval were listed (in declining order) among THE LEFTOVERS.

Thank YOU for AW.  I feel insulated from all the social media madness here.  Sure, some of the guys on here can be annoying (as can I), but the vast majority make AW a great place to hang out and talk baseball.  You've created a great community.  I'd miss AW more than I could ever miss Ohtani if AW went away.

His physical breakdown makes it a tricky offseason of free-agency for Ohtani. He probably won't get $600 million or more over a decade. A second elbow reconstruction and a fully lost season of pitching turns him into a premium DH and little more for at least one season. In his 30s, there is no guarantee he'll ever be as effective as a pitcher as he was pre-injury. 
I also wonder how much trust he has in the Angels' medical staff.
I wish Shohei well in his future endeavors, The locker clear-out seems pretty final from an Angels' standpoint.
