I dismissed it outright, when I read it in the primer because we dont need Ohtani. Adell is breaking ST camp with the big club and displacing Trout in CF by mid-May. I read it on AW, somewhere.

The Homer sapiens were hoping it would go unnoticed in the undergrowth on the forest floor.
Way to beat the bushes, dude!!
Right now, Epps is pulling Ausmus aside and reminding him of how costly it can be to violate the old adage............."What goes on in Vegas, stays in Vegas, Brad!!"

I guess this is the highlight of the winter meetings for Angel fans.
Oh wait, I forgot. There's the Rule V draft tomorrow......................

Here's the line that worries me the most............
"The market is full of teams flush with cash to spend so this off-season could turn into a real rodeo with some teams getting tossed off the bronco early and often........."
Players are disappearing fast on the FA market, compared to last year. And if we aren't really interested in trading from our farm system, 2019 is going to be a loooooong season.

Get REAL, Strad. We've had three straight losing seasons. Mikey doesn't like it. Smoke and mirrors ain't workin!!! Wishin' and hopin' for an improbable timetable in one player is not enough.
We were 20th in OBP last year. That needs to change. Trout hit 39HR, 24 doubles and 4 triples, hit .312 and drove in less than 80 runs. THAT RIDICULOUS!!!!

Regardless of what Arte might spend, Trout is holding all the cards. He will get something close to the most Arte could offer, from another club. So if his motivation is being on a winner, Arte needs to make sure we are a winner.
If Trout simply wants to go back east, there is nothing Arte can do about that.
I lived in SoCal so long (like about 45 of my first 55 years of existence) that I assumed that there would never be a better place to live. I was in So OC. But after traveling around a bit, I can see how the hub bub of SoCal doesnt appeal to many, despite the tremendous weather. It's lost it's appeal to me. I went and visited two years ago and, my God, how will the highways ever accommodate all those homes they are building along the Eastern and Foothill Transportation Corridors. It is insanity. The Valley, the Inland Empire, all along the 405 and most of SD County have been insane for some time.

From 2012, the time we signed Pujols, thru 2017, the year Napoli last played, Albert accrused 12.8 WAR. Napoli accrued 11.2 WAR.
Napoli would have cost us 66 mil, based on what he ended up earning. Albert will end up costing us 240 mil..............and a lot of other free agents we might have been able to afford.
The year before Albert joined us, Napoli had the best year of his career. A 5.5 WAR in Texas. Playing 1b, C and DH.
We had started the trend to using him at 1b in 2010, where he delivered a respectable 2.0 WAR while earning only 3.2 mil.
Seriously, Napoli is tied to two of the top four worst decisions in the Arte era. Trading him for Wells and not continuing to use him at 1b. If he had performed the way he ended up performing for other teams, for us, we might have never felt the need to sign Albert. Which is probably the second worst decision of the Arte era, behind the Hambone signing.
Well, it's water under the bridge, of course, but this is the point in time you reflect on it. Napoli certainly got the last laugh. His stats against the Angels was the cherry on top.

WeatherWonk got a reaction from Taylor in Eppler’s final season or not
A fourth straight losing season would not be a ringing endorsement. I can imagine that Arte is waiting to see results.
I understand that he has improved the farms system (it literally could not have gone any lower in ranking), but there still hasn't been much to show for it, at the big league level. Fletcher was drafted by Dipoto, I believe. Has anyone else that he drafted made it and stuck? His stopgap measures like Valbuena, Marte, Kinsler and the revolving door in LF (before Upton) didnt pan out.  He's been a bit unlucky, to say the least, in terms of some of the guys he let go, who did better than here (a familiar theme, previous to him), Chacin and Chavez come to mind, but, given the seasons they had here, it was tough to justify extending them.
Was he responsible for extending Kole? Looked like a good plan, at the time, but it has not panned out.
It seems like he was very instrumental in the signing of Ohtani, which is a big plus. The Simmons trade is his hallmark, so far.
I think this might be a make-or-break year for him. He needs to win for Arte's sake and possibly for Trout's.
The guy seems to know how to work well within a budget. I'd love to see what he could do without the Albertross contract.
I like him. He seems to have, to use a hackneyed term, moxie. I think he's probably the most intelligent and capable GM we've ever had. Bad luck, especially injuries, has derailed him. Love to see what he can do with a real budget that isnt tied into previously sunken salaries.

OMG, a guy who has 60 ABs at AA and struck out 30% of the time is projected to be a 5-7 WAR player in 2-3 years?
    Isnt this a bit premature?
If he's that good, why isnt he in the top 40 prospects lists?
