Adell is battling up there. He was an automatic strikeout a year ago. Not a finished product but a huge improvement is nice to see

    Stassi is our best player

I know I've said this before, but it bears repeating, context is key. I know we're always looking for the next big thing with prospects, I'm guilty of it too. You want some unexpected answer to present itself. But in this case, keep context in mind.
Stefanic is 25 years old, hitting .323 in AAA. That's really good, right? Well, he's a .305 career hitter, Salt Lake tends to inflatet hings, so it's about expected.
Now compare him to Luis Rengifo. Rengifo is 24, a year younger than Stefanic, and is hitting .334 in AAA, better than Stefanic. Rengifo is also a better defender, faster and more versatile than Stefanic. I am not saying Stefanic doesn't deserve a shot. I'm saying that before doing that, maybe give Luis Rengifo a fair shot.
Or, if you're just looking out for the major league team and want the best players playing in their best spots, then the answer is very simple, you re-up Jose Iglesias. He's a good defensive shortstop that hits for average, is great in the clubhouse and is inexpensive. He also allows you to keep Fletcher playing 2B, a position he's unrivaled defensively at.
I think we just need to understand that there are quite a few good ball players that deserve a shot, Thaiss, Rengifo, Wong, Stefanic, Mayfield, Gosselin..... You just kind of have to let it all play out.

Agree with this. He was just starting to build momentum in AAA and get his K rate slightly down. Let him finish out the year in the minors on a high note rather than scuffle while getting partial playing time. You have to also keep his trade value in mind for this offseason.
Likewise for Detmers, he had one start in AAA. Let him build more momentum; he has known issues with his HR rate and fastball command, which we saw on display yesterday. He doesn't have the arsenal of an Alek Manoah where he can breeze through the minors and succeed right away.
But then again, I tend to be conservative regarding prospects, especially when the major team doesn't really need them

Honestly it's another lost season and I prefer this to seeing Detmers and Rodriguez get rushed and struggle like we saw with Adell

Then why are we burning a year off his clock and risking rushing him? Leave him down there and let him mash. Start fresh next season

    thats my opinion of it

I don’t get the calling up Adell thing. It reeks of desperation instead of seeing the bigger picture
    god damnit

C-Rod has been good. All I care about. Terrible team offensively without Walsh/Trout/Rendon.

See, I keep seeing people say this on here. But I’m not so sure at all. I still view Marsh and Adell as being very different players but being very similar in terms of expected outcome at the Major League level. I’ve felt that way for about 3 years now

Marsh is the more ready player right now. He can defend and take walks so people are going to overrate him slightly in my opinion.

Im still not trading either one unless I get a cost controlled arm that I can’t refuse
Having Adell/Marsh/Trout as the outfield starting mid-next season sounds enticing to me. I’m not saying both are stars right away. But having them making league minimum and being solid startersis important for us

That’s true. I don’t mean it as an overwhelming negative against Adell. It’s more an argument to just leave him down there the rest of this month. He’s still only 22.

Well whatever the case may be: The Bachman pick certainly looks better right now.

The only thing that sucks about this is that it wasn't an AL West team.   Astros BTW failed to sign their 4th rounder -- because of the sanctions he was their second highest pick.

Yup, there is almost no chance we re-sign Iglesias. Not trading him is maybe the single best example of an organizational philosophy that has lead to something like 6 consecutive losing seasons.

First off, what have the Mets done to Arte?

and second, Arte sucks…. He’s the main reason we have been to the playoffs 1 time since 2009. I get he’s willing to pay out big contracts, but that doesn’t make him a good owner.

My signature positive memory of him is a pregame show feature on a charity event he hosted benefitting some kind of program pairing dogs with kids at Children's Hospital. He seemed/seems like a good man.
But that's not what you want to have as your best memory of a ballplayer, especially when he was traded for one of your three favorite Angels ever.
More than any single player, Heaney represented the last six years of Angels baseball: Each spring we would convince ourselves that maybe THIS would be the year that he turned it around, and each summer we would be disappointed anew.
I am glad this era is over.
