I was optimistic about Ward coming into this season but now given his start to the season, and the fact that he didn't hit at all for 3 months last season, I've lost a lot of faith in him. It's tough, but this team needs to start performing better, and it comes down to production at the end of the day. Sure, it wouldn't feel good to demote Ward to a bench role, but we're talking about a guy here that has HALF a season of success. It's not as though he's put up 2 or 3 solid full seasons and we're benching him for a slow 6-week start.

rotation needs help and Barria has been successful this year maybe it will carry over into 5-6 inning starts. Silseth at the back end of the bullpen solves a lot of current issues, as long as he’s effective.
 
A Silseth-Moore-Estevez backend of the bullpen has the potential to be good to very good.

Such a smart move to remove Moniak from the leadoff spot in favor of Ward. Ward got on base as many times as Moniak did sitting on the bench.

What team will trade such a pitcher?

No.  The grit level doesn’t mean shit until the pitching and defense improves, bottom line.  This is clear after getting blown the fuck out in the following game after the good comebacks.  The pitching sucks so far, and no amount of offense can paper over it.

Personally I'm not that excited about a split, nor a 3-4 road trip. Basically this win made the road trip bad instead of a disaster. 
2/3 from Twins and sweep the Red Sox would get me excited. 

As much as everyone bitches about the Angels offense they are 3rd in runs scored in the AL behind the Rays and Rangers. 
They are also the 5th worst at runs allowed so it's a battle between the two to keep them near .500. It all really comes down to pitching and defense.
But mostly defense, the Angels lead all of baseball with 31 errors and lowest Fielding percentage. That was on display last night, a few plays should have been made to reduce the pitching workload that weren't and extended innings. 
The Angels need to climb the ladder defensively to climb in the win column. Walsh returning should help.

Just past the 1/4 point of the season and still a ton of baseball to be played. A whole lot of teams seem to be poised for an AL Wild Card spot.  In the end I’m sure Houston wins the division. 
 
Potential AL wild card teams seem to be Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles, Jays, Rangers, Mariners, Indians. 
 
Hopefully we can get some consistent play and reel off a couple winning streaks. I’m starting to have doubts this team is going to pull it off unless Trout starts to hit a lot better and the pitching staff starts to step up.

I would describe this team as just sloppy. They’re an undisciplined mess reflective of the entire franchise for the last decade. After last year’s improvement of the rotation plus the added depth in the off season, I had some legitimate hope going into the season. Would love to be proven wrong but I don’t see a playoff team here at all. And as much as I respect Trout as one of the greatest ever, if I had my choice of hitters down a run and bases loaded bottom 9, right now I would pick 20, maybe 30 other hitters in the game before him to deliver the big hit. I wish I didn’t feel that way.

Or to put it another way: If you build it I will come, Arte. But if you're going to keep fielding a shitty (or mediocre) product, year after year--and decade after decade--don't expect me to maintain my attention. You've got to earn that, and you haven't.
