TroutField got a reaction from Angel Oracle in The Official Los Angeles Angels 2023-2024 Hot Stove Offseason Thread
The problem is how do you kick Marisnick and Hicks to the curb when they have been crushing it this spring?
Im not saying they should be given a job based on a spring training performance in lieu of a potential 2 WAR player, but man Perry has some decisions to make.
Hopefully they can find a way to not lose Adell.

What is funny, to me, is that people went crazy when Buttrey quit, but now people want Rendon to quit.

We have years of evidence that this guy is soft.
I really don't understand the gimmick anymore dude. He fucking sucks. He said he doesn't like baseball. What more do you want?

The big nit is that he's pretty terrible defensively at 3b and in the OF. From a versatility standpoint though he's a pretty ideal fit - especially this late in the game.
I don't think people realize how big of an upgrade a 2 WIN position player is for this team right now.

Meh he came here when he was a prospect still. Kind of home grown.
kind of like your buddy gave you a weed plant right before it flowered and then you got to smoke it. Lol

Player with a career OPS+ of 113 that can play 1st, 3rd, and LF on a team that could use the depth at both IF corners and looks like it needs another bat...
Unfinished business!

I don’t get why anyone gives a shit about any one year deal. 1 year 50 million even. Who gives a shit how Arturo spends his angels money. Better that he does than he doesn’t. You’re going to come to this website and get mad about whatever either way. At least with multi year deals you can pretend there’s some long term consequence.

Thank you for the info. That’s what I was understanding regarding the draft pick compensation, thank you for confirming.

The draft pick loss lasts until this year's draft--so July 14th.
The Angels would lose their 2nd pick--but it doesn't go to the Padres or anything like that. The Angels just lose it. And mlb.com is correct regarding the compensation the Padres would get if someone signs Snell before July 14th.

As much as I dislike the money it is going to take to sign Snell, there's no doubt that it improves the rotation substantially - and not just in the rotation itself, but the depth. Meaning, not only does it replace Silseth with Snell in the rotation, but it replaces whichever shmuck is their first depth starter in AAA (Plesac, Rosenberg, Daniel, Mederos) with Silseth.
In other words, signing Snell would mean:
Snell/Silseth
instead of...
Silseth/Plesac

The rate is fine but idk who’s going to agree to that term. 5/$95M seems more reasonable considering the market

No. I’ve never seen a mayor come out and straight up say you’re better off not coming to a professional sports team attempting to move to a new city.

West facing glass in the afternoons really let in a lot of heat and the sunlight
If they end up building this they will have to make some major adjustments IMO

Baseball needs a signing period. Starts 7 days after the Workd Series and ends the day pitchers and catchers report. Any contract after that can only be a 1 year deal with a modest cap to the amount.

I thought you were a Vegas Native? Am I wrong?
Let get some thing clear!
Cashman Field is in one of the worst areas of metro area. The strip is the most famous areas of the metro area!
The franchises did not want to be near down town but they wanted to be near the strip. I hope that isnt hard to figure out!
Both mayors Goodman (hubby and wife) want to revitalize downtown. However, the sport franchises are marketing tourist as well as locals. Thus they want to be near the best resorts. Which is the strip. Goodmans had no choice in the area. You comment like they had a say where venues go!
1. TMobil was open by private money. The money came from MGM and Casino magnet Adelson. Those chose TMobile bevause it was the best location to market the team.
2. Allegiant location was also chosen to be near the strip. Both Golden Knights and Raiders get corporate marketing $$$ because the MGM resorts surround both locations.
3. Of Course the T&M Center would be on the UNLV campus. Should they have put it downtown instead on the college Campus?
4. Not sure what you are trying to say about the airport. Or the Speedway which is so big in real rstate that it had to be on the outskirts of town.
5. The Mayor of Las Vegas has no say to cobstruction in Clark County. The county Commission does. And the state legislature
From an economic standpoint Cashman field makes sense. It would be cheaper to build and for A's. It has the infrastructure. However, location is not ideal.
The best economic decision would have been having the stadium built in Summerland. Houghes corporation has offered the land rent free. That would make more economic sense.
However the best decision for marketing standpoint is the strip. The franchise owners know that. That is why they insisted a location near the strip.
These arguments have been well publicized in the Las Vegas Review Journal so I am not maling it up in thin air as you say it.

Easy there, big guy. No need to shout or accuse anyone of lying. Nothing I said is untrue or misleading. All anyone asked was what you think of the comments. The Goodmans have been lobbying various teams to come here for over 25 years (evidence of which I referenced). I happen to agree that Fisher’s plan doesn’t make a lot of sense. They’ll be kitty corner to T-Mobile. Can you imagine the congestion if the A’s have a game the same evening as the Knights? Or if there is a huge concert at T-Mobile on the same night? Or the embarrassment if the Knights draw better than the A’s It’d be insane. As for if I live here in Vegas? Don’t do that. I’ve lived and worked in this town for 18 years. You want to have a civil discussion, I’m all for that. You want to shout and accuse me of lying or misleading, then just scroll on by. I’m not here for that.
