For comparison, Aaron Judge’s first taste of MLB pitching in 84 ABs:
    (AGE-24) .179avg, 4HR,  10RBIs, 42Ks, .608 OPS

    Adell with 117 ABs:
    (AGE-21) .154avg, 3HR, 7RBIs, 52Ks, .464 OPS

Adell definitely with poorer numbers but it’s still just a taste and he’s 3 years younger during his first taste than Judge.  Judge went on to hit 52 HRs the following season (2017).

    terrible opinion.
why are you not focused on your job every waking moment of your day?
are you saying that he lacks the same capacity as you to work his job and still exist as a human being?
when he's sitting on his couch at night watching netflix and ordering something off amazon is he less free to do that than mike trout?
i don't see any difference between the batting cage and the water cooler.

Yeah, Canning is hard to classify as a faller for me too because the injury seemed kind of ominous when it was announced.  I would have liked to see him pitch better but I'm just happy he seems to be healthy and the arm issue may not have been as serious as first believed.
Also -- since his 8 inning game four starts ago.  OPS Allowed of .678, a 3.57 ERA while still being a tad unlucky .317 BaBip.

Honestly, if he makes his next two starts, I would put him there regardless of the outcome (within reason, of course).
His movement and location aren't quite what I'd hoped to see this season, but I also never expected him to make 10 (or 12) starts. I am beyond pleased to see that his arm has held up.

I think adding Fletcher to the risers list should be in order. I'm pretty sure that he has exceeded almost everyone's expectations for this year. He's a very good contact hitter, and he's doing much better at taking walks this year too. Outside of Simmons he is probably our best defensive player. He can also be used to play several defensive positions as well. We really don't have any other super-sub's on this team that can do what he does defensively.

    Good stuff @Angelsjunky.
I would say that if Canning's next two starts are solid, I'd move him into the risers field. He's a couple good starts away from having a sub 4 ERA in what was supposed to be a lost year for him with regards to his elbow injury in spring training.
Man this team is so close to having a really solid club. I'm actually excited about this offseason and 2021.
The guys you noted in the risers section have reinvigorated my optimism.

here's the where and why you fail.
i don't think anybody's debating with you the wisdom of the albert pujols contract. everybody that i'm aware of has accepted that contract as a colossal failure.
what you do over and over again is try to rewrite history as if everybody knew it AND you always put your narrative into the mind of the player, which is utter narcissistic bullshit.
you say everybody knew he was on decline and then cite an article written and published years after he was already with the angels. where are all the articles around the time of the end of his cardinals career? at least those would be prescient.
also, you say things like, "albert knew it too", which is such tripe as if you have any concept of what goes on in his mind. in fact i can guarantee otherwise because i can cite evidence to the contrary. all one has to do is read any quote of his over the entirety of his angel career and it's obvious that not only did he not know he was in decline then, he may still not now. i would recommend to you and anyone else who may read this, if they see themselves in it, stop behaving as if you know what is in the heart and mind of strangers, because you don't have a fucking clue.
you commit the classic american blunder, which is to represent your narrative as fact, and it's not.

The 10 year contract is personal services and has nothing to do with his MLB contract. Two separate entities.
At this point it would be gracious to give him the opportunity to finish his career with Cardinals and say goodbye to the fan base that saw his greatest years.
The Hall of Fame chooses which uniform he is enshrined in. It will be as a Cardinal.

So the reason Adell explained why he hated the advanced hitting tool.......... it sounded stupid. All the tool is trying to do is fix his swing, isn't impacting his "see ball, hit ball" which he also sucks at.
Maybe dude should actually pay attention, look at Walsh and his new swing.

It has nothing to do with whether or not Ohtani will succeed.
There is no downside to letting him try.
There are no guarantees in life. Expecting the worst is a crappy point of view, IMO.
This rush to put Ohtani in some sort of box is funny.

He's gonna come down from this hot streak and the league will attack him differently.... But, as good as he's been he's not come close to matching his minor league walk rate..   Dude will get better there and it may all balance itself out to a degree.
That before and after video is great to see.  Its good when your team is taking the development part of player development and showing successes.

Spencer had the benefit of playing in Yankee Stadium. During his first call up in '98, he hit 8 of 10 HRs at home. At Yankee Stadium, his OPS was almost 750 points higher and his BA 170 points higher.

Cautionary Tale of Shane Spencer inserted here.

Also raked in minors at age 26, had a ridiculous end of September, 7 HR, 20 RBI in 9 games, similar slash and BB:K ratios as Walsh has in that time...was a relatively average to sub-average role player following.
Walsh looks great and I’m a believer, but tempering expectations still. He’s made an adjustment that’s given him a legit advantage. It’s now time for the pitchers to adjust. How Walsh adapts to that correction will help determine if this sticks, and we won’t really know until a month or so into ‘21. If anything, the fact that our coaching staff helped him make those corrections is the most promising aspect. We’re seeing signs of life in Ward, Thaiss has a whole new stance...
