  1. It makes too much sense to set up areas far enough away from the general public where they could live and maintain the area while social workers, healthcare workers and so on could go to them. Problem is too many won’t follow a no alcohol or booze policy. Until the cities take a hard stance on what’s currently happening nothing will change and the state doesn’t really want that because it’s a cash cow. There’s a lot of non government related groups that actually do work to get people into transitional housing while they get on their feet. Since the government has let the situation go to shit these groups are luckily getting more attention and work.

  2. I wouldn't say it's different outside of no Ohtani rather it's a continued downward progression.  Trout and Rendon are injured, the young pitchers (Detmers, Canning, Sandoval) haven't stepped up, the young position players have been below league average for the most part, the signings are largely misses, they don't have success with reclamation projects and the farm is weak.  Dysfunction has been the name of the game from the top down and I'd be surprised if there's any kind of turn around in the next 3-5 years.  Stranger things have happened and I hope they do right the ship sooner rather than later but I just haven't seen anything in the last decade that makes me think they will.

Always remembered him as the chubby kid who led LB to back to back LLWS titles. Had no idea he had substance abuse issues for a while but sounded like he cleaned his life up. Dropped dead coaching his son’s LL team, brutal.  RIP.

They are going to draft Nabers. Honestly if they would have done the correct thing and drafted Flowers last year this would hit different. It would still suck to lose Allen but at least they would have a young wr1-wr2. Now they will just have Nabers and a hope that Johnston some how learns to catch with his hands.

They opted to address the trenches. Have to imagine their next pick is a WR.

Eliminate fast food because it's bad for you.

Silly Jay you know politicians don't give a shit about anyone's health.  They got away with taxing cigarettes and sodas because it's low hanging fruit.  If anything Pelosi...I mean her husband probably shorted fast food stocks.

I spent about a week in that area in 2016 with my stepdaughter when she made a campus visit to Virginia Tech for entry into veterinary school. Very scenic area, liked it a lot.

One thing getting consideration in our household is a possible move to Newfoundland, my mother's former home. I have written confirmation of Canadian citizenship from Immigration Canada, so getting in wouldn't be a major ordeal. Already found a home, about 2,400 square feet, former RCMP office, in a coastal town west of St. John's. After sale of my home here, I could pay cash for it if I wanted and have plenty left over. The Atlantic Ocean is literally across the street.

That sounds pretty nice. My wife and I have talked about doing something similar. Her great grandfather immigrated from Italy and since they could trace their lineage she was allowed dual citizenship. That makes it easier for us to get me there and buy property. A few decades to go and a lot can change but it’s fun to dream.

Yeah, this is like Prop 1 for the homeless.  Oh we wasted the billions previously, and it didn't help much.  But we've learned and will be better, so give us more money.  And the cultists will say, yeah, that sounds right, carry on.

Another $100 billion needed to complete California's bullet train project

On the plus side think of all the 6 figure jobs that come with pensions this creates.  Kudos to the voters for giving a blank check to the state government that's only made the issue worse.

  8. I wouldn't say they lost Ekeler as he was an easy cap cut after he couldn't stay on the field last season and he'll be 29 in a few months which is old for an NFL RB.  They may not be able to replace prime Ekeler production but RB's are now a position a lot of teams look to fill in the draft or with a younger back on the roster especially when they don't have much cap money.

Russell Wilson leaving Denver to sign a deal with the Steelers.

He didn't leave Denver he was cut.  Had they not done so before the start of this league season his $37M salary for 2025 would have been guaranteed.  Definitely going down as one of the worst trades of all time especially after seeing the dead cap hit they took on to cut him.  I was a fan of them trading for him but didn't see the need to extend him right away since he was still under contract.  Not sure how the GM still has his job between the Wilson move and some others in recent years.  I expect Denver to be the AFC West cellar dweller for a few years at least.
