  1. Gotta love politics.  First day in office Biden made it a point to undo what Trump had going at the border, situation gets worse for 3 years, new election cycle rolls around and now it's worth dealing with.  Make a situation worse, let it fester for years, demand a solution be tied to something else you want (Ukraine, Israel funding) and when it's settled promote it as a win.  'Merica!

  2. The Bills won their last 5 games including wins over Dallas and KC to not just make the playoffs but win the AFC East and take the 2 seed. As of week 12 if anyone bet on them pulling that off they got paid. Allen is prone to making bad choices but he’s also one of about 5 QBs most would agree they’d want with the game on the line. Buffalo’s offense goes stagnant at times but they also have the ability to put up points about as quickly as any other team. They’re peaking at the right time and rightfully the third favorite heading into the playoffs.

  3. When you trade so many of your picks the last few years notably multiple first rounders for a past his prime QB then a coach it’s hard to field a good team.  In the NFL you have to hit on draft picks to compete. Payton criticized Hackett saying he put together one of the worst coaching jobs last season so I’m real curious what he thinks about his job so far this year. If they don’t beat both Chicago and the jets the next two weeks they’ll be in the running for the top pick in the 2024 draft. Even if they do they look like they should end up with a top 5 pick.

Always nice seeing Dallas remind everyone they’re Dallas. They’ll probably still make the playoffs then crap the bed as in an entertaining fashion.

38 mil per year. Plus any signing bonus money still owed.

I saw an article that mentioned $38M per year remaining but deferred to sport trac. Just makes it that much less likely he retires or is traded. May end up being one of the worst contracts ever if he doesn’t string something together.  Doesn’t seem like he has the desire to with a guaranteed contract while he already has a ring.

  5. Rendon might be done as a replacement level player but he isn't done collecting the $89M that will be owed to him over the next 3 years and he isn't getting traded unless it's for another crap contract.  I would absolutely love for someone to be able to bump my comment because I'm wrong but like Pujols this financial turd will continue to circle the drain until his contract is up.  So in the next year between the two I'd say it's more likely Arte sells the team as opposed to them cutting Rendon which I could see happening after 2024.

  6. A few months back we visited family and stayed in Hayden on the lake and spent some time in Coeur d'Alene.  Really enjoyed it as it was laid back, everyone we came across was incredibly nice and you can't beat the views.  I'd love to end up some place like that some day while Idaho is top of my list.

Got into camping in the last few months and went out to Barton Flats Campground a few weeks back.  I don't think the 38 went much further than that (signs said it was closed but never specified where) because it was closed at a point due to wash outs from when the tropical storm came through.  One of the people working at the campground said she's never seen anything like the rain they got from that over such a short period.  We took our kayaks and went to Jenks Lake which was nice but I'm pretty sure it's a pond or just barely a lake by definition.  Other people had kayaks but they were using them for fishing.  The campground itself was nice as the spaces were big, there were plenty of trees and there were trails we hiked that led us across the road and back to Jenks Lake.  Looking for more options that have bodies of water we can kayak that aren't too bad temperature wise as during that same time Temecula was almost 100 degrees and even Redlands when we got off the freeway was triple digits.  The altitude knocked off 20 degrees and it cooled down more while we were there which was nice and it was in the 60's at night.

  7. Allen tries to do too much and if he keeps running as much as he has it’s eventually going to backfire. Rodgers career could be over as it’s hard enough for any player to come back from a torn Achilles let alone a 39 year old. Pretty interesting first week as a lot of offenses were pretty quiet. KC, Buffalo and Cincy all lost. San Fran looked real good granted it was against Pitt. Denver offense is still shit and they lost by 1 after the kicker Payton brought in missed a FG and PAT. Chargers ran the ball well but all the hype was about how Moore would open up their passing game which wasn’t the case week 1 and Ekeler is dealing with an injury. Dallas defense carried them to a win curious to see how they do when the offense needs to produce.  Philly started off strong then barely pulled off the win while their offense didn’t really get going. Minnesota has Kirk Cousins still, enough said. Hope Thursday’s Philly/Minn game doesn’t disappoint.

Actually making these picks to fill unexpected voids due to injury etc. is very difficult.  Especially considering other teams are bidding for the same guys the halos  want, which puts a GM in a terrible negotiating position.

It’s not just these picks it’s a long running theme of missing way too often when it comes to signing and trades. Add the young guys we hoped would take steps forward notably pitching not doing that and it’s no surprise the team is where it is.  Some day things will change but no one can objectively look at this franchise the last decade and say they haven’t massively disappointed.

  10. When Houston moved to the AL West they had the lowest salary in MLB. At least a few people on here were talking about how the Angels would benefit for years to come with them as a division opponent.  I recall Lou saying Houston wouldn’t be a door mat for long. The other teams in the division or any other for that matter aren’t the biggest problem it starts in house.
