  1. That's great news for us opening week, Iwakuma kills us.
  2. I like Fish! I think Borenstein is the next Calhoun and Fish is the new Borenstein, the cycle continues.
  3. I have regular season games but not spring training gaaahhh, I'd have to sit through Rangers game bleh
  4. Plays second and third base, shortstop, right, left, and center field, and is also a very good base stealer. We've seen a billion spring training deals lately, but he's one guy I've had my eye on. One more deal JeDi!
  5. If he can get his BB/9 rate down to the 3's then yes. If not I think he's a backend starter or long relief pitcher. It's not a question of these guys' (guys' being Richards, Skaggs, and Santiago) stuff, it's just a matter of them tapping into it and being consistent. If Santiago can get his walks down and use the advantage of moving to a spacious ballpark, he'll be a very solid starter. If Skaggs fixes his mechanical issues, gets his velocity back up, and gets time to learn to pitch on a major league staff, he could be a #2 starter. And if Richards can get some consistent playing time and find some consistency in those starts, we have three talented and young starters. A lot of "ifs" but we'll know soon.
  6. I know he wants to start, but if Mulder can pitch in the long relief role, I think he could end up being one of the best moves me made this off-season.
  7. I'll you what, if Taijuan Walker and a couple of their other young arms in Seattle pitch well, Seattle will be a team to watch out for. Pitching wins games and Felix, Iwakuma, Walker, Ramirez, Baker, and Paxton has the potential to be deadly.
  8. For a minor league deal! The Halos should've been allllllll over this
  9. They're gonna love all these big contracts in a couple years (A-Rod, Tex, McCann, Ellsbury, Beltran, CC, and Tanaka) no more Jeter, no more Kuroda, I'm gonna love seeing this all unfold.
  10. Calhoun Trout Pujols Hamilton Freese Ibanez Kendrick Iannetta/Conger Aybar Calhoun gives us a OBP guy at the top, Freese hits between the lefties and gets on base for the slugger Ibanez, keep Howie lower in the lineup where he's had better numbers and even said he's more comfortable, keep Aybar as far away from the lead-off spot as possible.
  11. Meh, rather wait and see what Jose Rondon and/or Eric Stamets can do. If Stamets can have league average offensive numbers at short, he'd be a terrific shortstop based off of his defense and speed alone, kind of like a Jose Iglesias. Rondon could be the third baseman of the future for us if he can continue to improve his eye at the plate and power.
  12. Nah I'm buying it, they picked up Ricard Sanchez, Natanael Delgado, Lianmy Galan this year, and Mario Martinez a couple years ago. I think we're slowly getting back to where we need to be.
  13. Think the bench is Shuck, Conger/Iannetta, Romine, and Pena. Green can go down the minors to work on his defense at second, third, and maybe the corner outfield spots (he'd be an extremely effective bench player against lefties with Hamilton, Calhoun, and Ibanez on the team.) McDonald is 39 years old, I just think he's done. Pena can at least play first and might provide some pop. Spring training should be interesting.
  14. My money's on Galan becoming quite the prospect in a couple years along with Green and Sanchez.
  15. The Angels reportedly turned down a trade of Withrow and Lee for Kendrick last season, if the Angels are struggling next season, I'd do that in a heartbeat.
  16. We started winning a lot more games last year when Weaver and Vargas were healthy and Richards was given the rotation spot, and that was without Albert, Howie, Burnett, Bourjos, and we had a $#!++y bullpen. A rotation of Washburn, Ortiz, Sele, Appier, and Lackey probably didn't sound all that good but with a lights out bullpen, a strong lineup, and a rotation that was able to keep us in games, we won it all. I think depth is more of the issue, if we can add someone who pitches admirably in the event of an injury, I think we'll be in decent shape. Richards and Santiago have the talent to pitch in the middle of the rotation, Skaggs has the potential to become a #2, and Weaver/Wilson are solid. We just need Albert and Hamilton to mash along with health in the rotation, it's the depth that scares me.
  17. Pull a Arizona Diamondbacks with Randy Johnson and work with him here, rent an apartment or a beach house for him to stay while he pays for us, offer ground transportation for his family once his kids get out of school for the summer, and offer a fat one year deal. I like Burnett and think he could make us legitimate contenders. Hell I'll drive his family to California if it means him coming to Anaheim.
  18. I like these moves, I think they're insurance moves for Ibanez and the DH role. If Ibanez tanks, Boesch can take over some DH at-bats and play the outfield (Ibanez shouldn't touch a glove besides batting gloves this season) or Pena DH's and spells Albert at first. Either way I think they're bridges to CJ Cron if Ibanez sucks this year. I like them.
  19. This means Kole will hit .200, damn you ESPN!
  20. Let's go Josh! Really hope he has a bounce back season for us!
  21. I'm going to wait on Price, I personally wouldn't sign him. Rather go after Latos after the 2016 season when he'll be 28 or maybe Masterson after this season, I don't think Masterson will get a huge contract like others.
  22. That's what I think might be the plan, Green's gotta make the roster first though. We have Stewart and McDonald who are in camp to create some competition for Green and Romine, time to show us what you're made of.
  23. I think Green does have a nice role for the Halos, if he can work on his defense so that he's at least passable at second, third, and maybe the corner outfield spots, he could become a very good guy to have play against some lefties with Hamilton, Calhoun, and Ibanez all in the lineup.
