This warmed my heart today. Thought I’d share. 

I was just in Savannah, GA yesterday. Ate at Paula Dean's Lady & Sons OG restaurant. So good! 
In Hilton Head today, Myrtle Beach later and all day tomorrow before heading home out of Charleston on Saturday.
I'm moving out this way in a year or so to either Greenville, SC or somewhere in TN.

I first read this book with my third grade teacher who was a 60-ish year old black woman from Louisiana. One of my favorite teachers ever as a kid. That woman legit gave a shit and loved the hell out of her kids. She used the words. She also explained her youth in Louisiana to us and what those words meant in her experience. No BS about it. She explained they were words of hate, but it was part of how people talked at the time, and we were not to say that ever now. Fascinating woman really.

Started watching Brockmeier a few weeks ago and finished S1 tonight. Some parts are good, and others are meh. 

Immediacy is a weird thing. It’s easy for me to be happy about getting the fuck out of Afghanistan while I sit on the porch watching a fuck all thunderstorm with my dog at 2AM sipping on a drink. It’s nice to think about not having to sacrifice the lives or livelihoods of more American kids on this useless bullshit. All that said, real human beings that matter as much as you or me are gonna get slaughtered because of the way we did this. It was gonna happen any way we did it, but fuck we could’ve limited it a lot with a better plan.

I don't know. The reality is that if we told all the civilians it's time to go there's an endless parade waiting to board a flight out of Shittown. The failing here is that the Afghan govt didn't even pretend to resist for half a day so it could be done orderly. If anything we should have surrounded the presidential palace and maybe some of the bases housing their forces and told them nobody leaves until we're fully out

Yep. And that is wholly inexcusable. Hoping we have some for real operators on that right now.

Lol. The argument isn’t about leaving. It’s about how we’re leaving. Common sense would tell you that it’s best to get the non military out before the military yet here we are. 

Meh, it’s just talk. America first talk really. We have a tendency to act like American lives matter more than the rest, which I guess makes sense for a pres as their executive rep. But it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s a shitty humanitarian situation. This really could have and should have been done better. But without fuck all total war (which also would’ve killed way more innocents) this was inevitable. It’s a fucksville situation, and always was going to be.
