I think Kandahar and Mazar-I-Sharif will fall but Kabul will hold on for a little while. Ahmad Massoud is now leading the Northern Alliance. He’s the son of the leader who UBL killed right before 9/11. He has a huge following and might be able to push back the Taliban.

It was before my time.  But one of the images I have of the Vietnam war is the final days, when people who worked with the US were desperate to get out of Vietnam.  Waving papers at the embassy, trying to get a ticket out.  

Hopefully it won't happen with Afghanistan, but it just feels like the government is going to fall quick.

i think i've mentioned before that one of the US military leaders during the war (i think he was a colonel) was on the last helo out of the US embassy. he heard my men's chorus sing in san diego and wrote us a check for $20k, which allowed us to record our first album.
