Don got a reaction from Amazing Larry in Ebola "out of control" in West Africa/Texas Maybe Cleveland?
Liberia population = About 4 million
Total Ebola cases in Liberia since last December = About 4,000
This is a country with arguably the worst health care system in the world, virtually no public sanitation, terrible education, lots of shamanistic beliefs... All set in a tropical climate. Basically, it's the perfect breeding ground for an epidemic disease, and the infection rate is about 0.1%
Conclusion = We'll be fine.

I'm becoming more and more firm in my hope that we don't get shields in the offseason. he has overpaid free-agent letdown season written all over him.

I judge all of you on your verb choices. Also, if you use the phrase "try and" as opposed to "try to" you basically become a terrorist in my book.

Don got a reaction from Doug Van Oort Sr in Players from this generation who are/were better than Derek Jeter
It's tough to compare Jeter to a lot of players because of three things. First is his longevity. So the peak of certain careers versus his is hard to judge. Second is his position. Obviously, there's a certain standard for SS that isn't the same as 1B or RF or C. Third is simply the type of player he was. High average, low Ks, moderate power, decent speed. It's hard to compare the value of that to someone like a Mark McGwire or Adam Dunn.
I will say this though. For most of his career he was an elite player overall, especially for his position. And I think that despite his mostly average defense, there were several years that I would have considered him the best all around SS in the game. And he won five rings. I know that's not all his doing, but it still has to hold some weight. I also truly believe that he's the most media-savvy athlete of the last 30 years.
Bottom line, a very good player that accomplished a whole hell of a lot, and was sometimes the best at his position over a 19 year career. Not the best player of his generation by quite a bit, but a HOF caliber player no doubt.

Don got a reaction from Second Base in Angels end stadium negotiations with Anaheim; Tustin on deck?
I really like Angel Stadium itself, but I hate where it's located. Sure, freeway access is good, but there's not much to do right around the stadium. I wish we had a stadium/area combo like San Diego, Chicago (Cubs), or Baltimore.

Don got a reaction from TobiasFunke in "The Barbarians Within Our Gates" Interesting read for those interested in the MIddle East !
I've heard a few interviews with Kumail Nanjiani (stand up comic and actor, and one of the main characters on Silicon Valley) where he has spoken on the realities of recruitment and culture in the Middle East. He was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan, then moved to Iowa at 18. One of the funnier/ more eye opening stories he told was of his first time shaking hands with a girl at a party in Iowa. The story isn't much, but the way he described the excitement of it and how he knew this would be considered so wrong in Karachi was really crazy to hear.
The second thing I heard him talk about was in regard to Al Qaida recruitment in Pakistan. He described young recruits as the rednecks of Pakistan. Basically poor, uneducated, and aimless. He mentioned that most of these recruits come from rural areas with no real possibility of a career, and quite interestingly, are often illiterate. So, these kids that lay their life on the line to promote a strict interpretation (though arguably inaccurate) of the Koran, often don't have the ability to even read it. An interpretation is simply told to them. It's quite sad really.

I apologize for TDawg's behavior. If I would have known he was in public, I never would have sent him that pic from Trout's Greco-Roman wrestling days.

That's rough for Stanton and the Marlins, and I wish him all the best in coming back. But the Marlins' announcers are possibly the dumbest people I've ever heard speak on television.
