  1. 1-0. Trout looks like he’s ready to start the season. Ohtani got a hit too. Pujols hit a weak grounder that bounced over the third baseman for an RBI. Cobb was meh. Not bad, a little wild, but looked like he was just getting some reps in.
  2. My first job was at KMart back in the day in their electronics department. Like some others here, I too did pizza delivery for awhile. It was actually a super fun gig. We’d work 5PM to 5AM shifts, and if you got the right nights the money was actually really solid. Plus it was in a college town, so that alone made the job fun sometimes.
  3. That pitch count rule is weird. Like I get the point of it, but it makes these games feel more fake than they already are.
  4. Yeah, there were plenty of dem candidates I would’ve preferred over Biden, but I would’ve voted for a sentient lamp over Trump.
  5. Yeah, the service time thing is probably what did him in the most. Everyone knows it goes on, but so far nobody has been able to get any sort of real recourse because no front office will openly admit to doing it and they can ostensibly stand behind the "we want him to work on his defense, K rate, baserunning, etc..." Now that this has happened, there's no way he can remain a part of the Mariners organization because it would open them up to some potential lawsuits.
  6. I'm always amazed that ski lifts haven't had stricter safety rules applied to them yet. Just kinda weird that we're totally cool with requiring car seats for kids until they're like 28 now, but when it comes to ski lifts we're like "Get on this rickety cable system where we set your drunk ass 40 feet off the ground using a couple wood boards with nothing to secure you while you hang a 15 pound weight off one foot."
  7. Watched The Head on HBO Max recently. A mass murder mystery about a bunch of scientists in Antarctica. Pretty good really. One of the actors looks like evil Eugene Levy though.
  8. Zachary Taylor checking in with a WTF.
  9. In the police report, cops say Damon was pulled over at around 1:23 AM after officers observed his SUV swerving all over the road. The 47-year-old -- who played for the Boston Red Sox and NY Yankees -- was pulled over by the Windermere Police Dept. (in the Orlando area) around 8:15 AM. Both of those are from the same article. Probably just bad writing. What you said makes more sense.
  10. That has cocaine written all over it. 8:15 AM, 0.30 BAC, and he's somehow conscious for the booking photo? You don't get there without some help. Edit: The article says he got pulled over at 1AM, but then later says 8AM? The former is probably true, but the point still stands.
  11. Took a baseball history class, and one of the assignments was a research paper making an argument for whoever we thought the best baseball player ever was. Who we picked didn't matter so much as the research and well-formed arguments we could put behind it. In talking about the assignment with our class the prof mentioned that the single best version of this paper he had ever read was making an argument for Rickey Henderson.
  12. To me at least, the larger effect is the human movement and resource competition that may arise from this. Like in my mind, I don't really give a shit if we get more or less thunderstorms here (or whatever event) because of climate change. And I really don't care if the coastline comes in a bit and some people need to move/rebuild their ocean front property. In the grand scheme of things, these are pretty minor issues. But what I do care about are the long term grand scale effects that result in resource scarcity and resultant migrations, especially in poorer areas of the world. To me that's really the biggest threat. It's large populations of people losing their livelihood and needing to move/compete for resources in other areas that will be the worst effect of climate change. After all, most human conflicts boil down to resource competition in the end... the other reasons given are usually BS to motivate the populace.
  13. But just think of how much better everything will be after we go over there and get the job done.
  14. I would personally ask for a cot at the nearest power plant and power the state with my farts. But that's just the type of man I am.
  15. It’s just gonna take a huge ideological sea change among a huge swath of people to get there. I think it’ll be unbelievably difficult and take a lot of time. I often do wish we had something closer to a parliamentary system, but that obviously won’t happen.
  16. If they’re just RWD it really sucks. Gotta throw 400-ish pounds of sandbags in the back just to have a chance. 4WD and you still need the sand, but it goes a bit better.
  17. Had to go scrape my car off in this BS about an hour ago.
  18. Jackson was pretty bad. Dude basically jeopardized the entire structure of the checks and balances system while our democracy was still pretty young. I think he’s in the lead for worst ever, with some of the gilded age guys and then maybe Harding in tier 2. Trump might end up being up there too. It certainly feels like it, but we’ll probably have a better grasp on his overall impact 20 years from now than we do now.
  19. Straight up unpleasant here too. It’s been this way for about a week already too.
  20. I was supposed to go see Rage and Run the Jewels last May, but that got cancelled of course. It's supposed to happen this July now. Caught Rage at Lollapalooza in Chicago back in 08' though.
  21. It’ll surely make you lose your mind.
  22. Shit. We do a lot of bow hunting?
  23. Sporting KC? There’s one. Lol.
  24. Zero technically. Though the Chiefs and Royals are all of about ten miles from the state line.
