It’s a bit different, as the huskers are basically everything to everyone. No pro sports teams. The only other reasonably competitive college sports programs are at Creighton, and that’s considered a rich kid school by most. Kansas has a bit more of a divide between the KU, KSU, and Wichita State devotees.

Not actually serious. I just have a joking distaste for Nebraskans. It’s mainly due to the cult-like reverence for Nebraska football. Like it is everything there, and people are legit shocked when you say you’re not a fan. It’s pretty funny when it happens.

In all sincerity, it’s a weird regional diction thing. Most Kansas people say Kerr-nee, most Nebraskans say Karr-nee. It’s an easy way to figure out where people out here are from. Sidenote: I lived on Kearney St through most of college. This was a frequent argument.

How did you pronounce that town’s name in your head? There’s a near constant and fierce debate here about that, and frankly all the Nebraskans are wrong.

I've always joked that Nebraska is full of tax and spend Republicans. Basically people vote R because that's what their parents did, and that's what they think they should do, and of course the dems are evil socialists... but policy-wise, the state seems much more left-leaning than the other states around it in my experience. Well-funded schools, tons of public work projects going on, registering a car costs roughly a billion dollars, etc... All that said, I'm sure plenty there will hate him for this, for the exact reasons he mentioned.

I had to stop watching it because of the subtitles. I don’t hate subtitles, but for some reason the editors often wouldn’t leave them on screen long enough. Like a sentence that should take 3 or 4 seconds to read would flash on the screen for like a half second. Just freaking insane to me that it got released without anyone telling them to go back and fix that.

Legit question here... does anyone with a better knowledge of the ME than myself think that this sort of stuff trickles down to more anti-US Sunni/Wahabbi extremism in the region at large? Like if we cut off the flow of weapons to the Saudis/Emiratis, they up the flow of money and motivation to anti-US groups throughout the region? Or are these things unrelated/way more complex?
