  1. Sorry @Tank. I know that’s a tough one to handle. Hoping both you and his family are ok in due time.
  2. Just saw this posted by a guy I grew up with. He votes.
  3. I watched that a couple weeks back. I was kinda shocked I hadn’t heard of the whole story before. Just seems like one of those things that everyone would know about.
  4. Weird. Every one I've been to out here is just crazy fast. There might be 20 cars in line, and the total wait is usually under five minutes. Also, to address the sauce complaints I've heard here @AngelsLakersFan @T.G., the one near me usually has like a sauce attendant after the drive through window. So you get your food, pull forward another car length or two and there's some poor teenager standing next to this giant cart of sauces and napkins and stuff in 25 degree weather that asks exactly what you want and hands it directly to you.
  5. Yeah, that series kinda set the standard for war stories in serialized form going forward. I mean you could release it today and it would be extremely well-received without changing a single thing about it production or story-wise. If you like Band of Brothers, HBO did sort of a companion series to it a few years later called The Pacific. I think it's quite a bit darker and savage, and a bit more raw/less heroic. But in a way, I think that reflects the nature of the Pacific theatre more than anything the writers were trying to do. The Pacific is really good though. If Band of Brothers is an A+, I'd give The Pacific a solid A-.
  6. The two leading theories I've heard are that it was either just super freaking expensive to make (which maybe), or that the Chinese government did not like the way they were portrayed in the series and kinda strong armed Netflix into ending it. I'd frankly believe either, or a combo of both, but I'm leaning toward the latter.
  7. I'm not sure trading Trout would have given us a great farm. Maybe a pretty good one, but not necessarily great. The thing that we haven't really brought up in this thread yet, is actual player development. Like real coaching, and training, and learning the skills necessary to succeed at the major league level. This is where the Angels have really done poorly (in addition to scouting and mismanagement). And I think it's where the Dodgers have done really well. There are some teams that seem to turn mid-level prospects or minor league castoffs into useful, if not really good, MLB players all the time (the Cardinals come to mind). Just trying to say that while tanking or depleting your major league roster is a sure fire way to acquire talent, someone still has to manage and develop that talent. It's a huge piece of the puzzle that isn't talked about enough in my opinion.
  8. I’d be interested to know if you experience any side effects. Keep us posted.
  9. End the war on drugs! No, not like that.
  10. Catch-22 is my favorite book ever. I just love what it does to one’s mind. It has a lasting effect on logical processes, which is one heck of an accomplishment in my opinion, and something really unique to Heller’s books in general. That said, it’s a really really hard thing to adapt to the screen, and I feel like the old movie did a pretty bad job with it. The series did a better job, but it still just doesn’t do the book justice.
  11. Shhhh..... Don't tell him.
  12. Fun little fact to add... some plains Indian tribes (the Kiowa in particular) considered Americans, Mexicans, and Texans to be three completely distinct ethnic groups. The Texans were not well-liked.
  13. Also a possibility. I really really dislike the current administration for a ton of things, and the fact that some of the real possible reasons for this decision could be score settling or just ignorance speaks volumes about my faith in this administration compared to basically any other. But, that article still remains very one dimensional without exploring any real reasons as to why that decision was made. And it's still possible that those reasons were valid.
  14. To be fair, this article doesn't really explore the "why" of the decision not to buy more from Pfizer. And that "why" is pretty important here, as this was a decision made in late summer. The problem is that "why" could be many things. Incompetence or ignorance are certainly on the list of possibilities, but so are other things like uncertainty about supply chain, storage, or distribution capacity. Being that this decision was made in late summer, it could've been not wanting to put all our eggs in one basket when other vaccines may have ended up being more effective or less difficult to produce/transport/store/administer, etc...
  15. Welcome to the USA. Glad you could stop in and say hi. Hotdogs are to the right. Just ask if you need the key to the shitter.
  16. Same thing for me at the end of a cruise in January. I think it's too late now for me to get an antibody test. It would be really nice to know for sure though.
  17. And at the very least you learned how to use the fuck out of an emphatic comma. I respect that.
  18. I know you don't mean it to be a race issue, but it is a race issue unfortunately. There are a lot of places in this country where being non-white results in more interaction with police regardless of behavior. And the same works in reverse a lot of times as well.
  19. I guess the bigger problem I see is that your mind frame seems to be that if people behave better then police brutality will solve itself. My take is that the police shouldn't assault anybody regardless of their behavior. They are paid to be the adults in the room and to keep everyone (including suspected criminals) safe, and thus need to be held to a higher standard. The only exception to that being when someone is an immediate threat to the safety of others/the officers. Simple poor behavior by a civilian doesn't justify poor behavior by police.
  20. Like I said, it's what I hear when I read a message like that. Maybe it's not what he meant, but it sounds that way to me. What I do know is that it is an attempt to shift the blame for a policing issue onto the people being policed through an unrealistic utopian hypothetical.
  21. No. Taking responsibility for one's actions is a fine and good thing. And why we have a court system. But when I read a post like Tank's it just reeks of "well if you negroes behaved yourselves, the cops wouldn't feel the need to bash your head in." May not be what he meant, but it sure as hell sounds like it.
