The Angels didn't score that inning. The A's could argue that they burned a few pitchers, had to face additional batters, etc.. But that would never be rewarded.

I'm not dismissing those stats entirely, just pointing out the flaws. And that there's more to it beyond the shiny peripherals. It's a matter of fact that there are pitchers who get hit harder than others (and vice versa). Those stats don't do anything to distinguish the difference between, say.. a Joe Blanton and a Jered Weaver.
Not saying those stats fail as a whole (they don't) But you gotta be careful, too... Or else Joe Blanton happens.
