Give the team credit for paying Stassi this whole time, when they probably didn’t have to. Only when there was some tangible benefit to putting him on the restricted list did they actually do it.
It’s not a big deal, and doesn’t say anything about the team being cold hearted or cheap or anything stupid like that. They put Trout on the restricted list when he was away from the team after the birth of his son. It’s pretty standard procedure around the league I’m sure.

Good God the ineptitude of this organization knows no boundaries.  

The good thing is, other than Ohtani, it's one of the worst free agent classes I can remember. When, Ohtani leaves, Arte will not be able to blow his money on any more overpriced over the hill veteran players. Of course, that didn't stop him from trading for Wells, so who knows? Without Ohtani, this is a 70-75 win team at best. Following the example of teams like the Orioles, Astros, Braves, etc...the best thing to do would be to tank for a few years and undergo a full rebuild. I think most real fans would be on board for that at this point. Of course, that's not going to happen without new ownership.

Renfroe 0 for 3 so far today with runners on base and 0 for 2 with RISP. He must think he's still playing for the Angels.

I realized like 5 years ago this team would never win anything as long as Arte owns the team.  He's not going to approve a full rebuild.  I 100% expect them to spend more money again this offseason, and again not go over the luxury tax, to try to win with the young group we have + free agents + whatever you get from Trout/Rendon

on the positive side, the Angels found out Giolito wasn’t a fit now without having to pay/roster him in 2024 and beyond.

But why release Stassi now when there’s a possibility that you don’t have to pay him at all?

Fletcher and Stefanic are two that I'd definitely recall.  No team is going to claim Fletcher's deal, so we may as well recall him, have him finish the season, then outright him again.  
Stefanic is going to become a MLFA at season's end, very unlikely that he re-signs with us again, he's more of an Oakland type of player anyway, until they move to Vegas and 10X their revenue streams.
