    I have.
It wasn't fun when I hit the riot officer's shield. If only I'd listened to the other Burger King protesters yelling at me that my balls were hanging out.

GalericX reacted to tdawg87 in i legit hate this ASG Trout narrative...
They aren't right. This is baseball. Not the NBA.
Uneducated, smelly, unbathed casual baseball fans who get their news from ESPN and InfoWars will always say this shit. That's why I stay far away from Yahoo sports or ESPN.
The fact is, like I said baseball is not the NBA, where one star player changes the entire fate of the team's season. Hell even the NFL is like this with QB's. Sweaty Plebs from the ESPN forums or Twitter won't ever realize that baseball is entirely different. There are 25 players on a roster. One player will ultimately have very little impact.
Let us count all the worthless players in MLB history who have won several WS Rings and then imply that they are better than Trout because we have brain issues. You know who never played in a World Series? Ernie Banks. You know who never won a World Series? Griffey and Bonds and Gwynn  and Cobb and Ted Williams. What unbelievable pieces of shit those guys are.
It's a tired narrative that butthurt fans who don't have Trout on their team hold onto because they can't legitimately criticize him without sounding like Corky took a bunch of pills.
Honestly, who cares? People who wear deodorant and actually know shit about baseball are aware it's a dumb, pointless argument. Let the uneducated neckbeards think what they want. Trout is the best. Period.

Alright, Ive been biting my tongue on this.
I keep reading bourjos' name thrown out with "he sucks" attached. Yes, his track record does. That likely doesnt change.
But hes had 12 at bats so far...
What Im getting at is that i dont even see how hes on anyones radar about the problems this team has. He sure as hell isnt the reason.
Literally, he hasnt really been part of the picture so far.
Im not saying this to defend him. Im not saying he will be alright. Im saying that youd have to really be paying attention to know he was even on this team, let alone an issue.

GalericX reacted to Stradling in If you were a baseball player, would you want Boras to be your agent?
Man this is such a tough question.  I will answer it like this.  If he were my agent he would work for me, so I would tell him to get me the best deal he can with a short list of teams, while having the actual team in mind that I want to play for and if that team is in the same ballpark financially then I want to go there.  Oh and get me that deal by December 15th so I can have it wrapped up before Christmas.

1). How many players would you BET will have a higher WAR over the next 6 or 7 seasons.
2). Now how many of them are available as free agents right now?
It isn't a matter of being overrated.  It is a matter of Harper being a very unique combination of real upside, youth and available now.
    That's rare and valuable.

I will take my crack at this, although it won't be anything you guys haven't heard from me before.
There is an epidemic of pitcher injuries everywhere for a variety of reasons you have all heard.
If the Angels are having more lately, there are a few things to consider.
-We are talking about very small samples, statistically. Say a team has 25 pitchers in the majors in one season, and one team has 7 get hurt and another team has 2, that's such a small sample that it's hard to draw any conclusions. It's probably just a fluke. Like when Mike Trout has 10 hits one week and 5 hits the next week. Was he twice as good a player?
-Many of the Angels recent pitching injuries occurred to pitchers they got off the scrap heap. JC Ramirez, Blake Wood, Parker Bridwell, John Lamb. That's three TJ's right there. All of them had issues before the Angels got them, which is partly why they were on the scrap heap. The Angels don't really care if a pitcher is a ticking time bomb if they got him for nothing. They got JC Ramirez for nothing and got 150 innings and 24 starts out of him before he broke. Bridwell threw 130 innings and started 20 and won 10 games. If they'd found out the day they acquired them that they were going to get hurt, but they'd do what they did first, they'd still take it. Even Ohtani showed up with a grade 1 sprain of his UCL, but the Angels (and every other team) were willing to take the risk with him because the upside was so high and the cost (financially was so low).

It has nothing to do with the Angels per se, the league has a problem with pitching injuries that is much higher than it was ten years ago. When you look back Weaver, Saunders, Santana, Washburn, Frankie, Sheilds, none of those guys and most of the supporting staff had elbow problems requiring surgery. Lackey required Tommy John surgery after he went to the Red Sox.
I think it has to do with how many of these young players had spent their youth in year round baseball. You can't undo 10 years of amatuer pitching with coaches that want to win now because that kid will be someone else's player in a year or two. There is no long term development that is based around these kids future health. It's a meat factory and the parents are all for it to get junior drafted.
It may find its way to position players as well and you will see more fall off a cliff in production simply because wear and tear catches up.
