I liked EY back in the day.
Funny enough, I just briefly looked up his BR. In 96 he won a Silver Slugger award.

His OPS+ was 98. Which is... weird.

But also, he batted like .330 with almost a .400 OBP.
And still had an OPS+ under 100.

    Thats... wacky.

The Marlins are 0-7.  I’d like to see them actually take a series against a team worth a shit before im sold on this group

No, this guy is in the suite.
In your example, the suite would be in her.

If the truth comes out that Ippei asked Ohtani for money for "X" (like investing in something, buying a home etc) and it turns out he was duped and it was for gambling, I can see that and understand it.

What I don't get it's that it's been a week now, and Ohtamis people haven't simply explained it like that. No statement at all about how exactly he was victimized, just that he was.
    That doesn't make sense....
I also don't believe for a second (even of Ohtani was duped) that he didn't find out anything was up until Ippei gave a team meeting.

I.... have a really hard time believing ESPN not only had the scoop, but somehow knew to blame Ippei... before the Feds ever at least contacted Ohtani's lawyer to advise him he was being investigated.

    Mentioned this somewhere else recently.

The media is all over this.

The only people who lie about going to UCR are the lower guys trying to bang old chicks at some dive bar in Norco. Or trying to impress their didatant in-laws at the holidays.

Nobody actually drops it to get a real job. It's just something you say to other lovers to get laid or to get to back off and leave you alone.

It's literally like telling people you take Kung fu if they ask you if you know how to fight.

"Well, they stretch before class I guess" and you move on to something else.

Yup no name yet but it sounds like Ohtani straight up hired a fixer, or sorry a ''crisis management spokesman''. And like everyone else in the timeline he never talked to Ohtani to get his side or iron out the next moves. Kind of strange since it was this fixer person who set up the large Dodgers in house meeting where Ohtani was attending as well. Guy supposedly never talked to Ohtani to tell him what was actually going to be said at the meeting (lol). Quite possibly the worst fixer in the history of fixers. But with the media on their side and Ippei probably getting paid under the table to take full responsibility and more than likely Ohtani not wanting to press charges for the theft it will all just go away. Or well at least until the Bowers guy is facing a long prison sentence and he wants to tell his side of all of this.

As i said at the time.  If you were not all in for extending Ohtani then you damn well should trade him.

That is entirely on Moreno and maybe the second worst baseball decision in history.

There’s a reasonable explanation for shying away from the Ohtani contract.  It’s not reasonable to then also refuse to trade him.  Fundementally, Arte and Angels don’t pursue any kind of cohesive strategy or philosophy.  Which is bad.

In the ESPN story it says that a Spokesman for Ohtani told ESPN the slugger had transferred the funds to cover Mizuhara's gambling debt.
I am curious who this Spokesman is, and was he fired by Ohtani after signing an NDA.

also sorry but no way in hell is the dodgers top brass showing up in front of the full dodgers team and tell them ippie first story without speaking to ohatni and or his pr team first to make sure that is what ohtani wanted the dodgers players to know. by going this i didn't know route that means the dodgers brass took ippie story and then called a team meeting to explain everything without even talking to ohatni and confirming the story lol

So how did Friedman know to tell the team that Ohtani paid the debt? I find it super hard to believe that Friedman just talked to Ippei and ran with it.

Apparently a lot of rich people get scammed because they have other people handle their money, and they never look at their own accounts.
In this case though, Ippei wasn't his financial manager or something. So whoever he has managing his money should have flagged it.

Unless Ohtani's statement just flat-out comes out and says, "Ippei lied and stole money from me.  I truly had no idea what was going on.  I have never gambled on sports and I didn't agree to repay any of Ippei's debts," I don't see how a prepared statement with no follow-up questions allowed doesn't just make this whole situation worse for Othani and, by extension, more of a distraction for the Dodgers.
