We are really looking at the possibility that Trout is a lifelong Angel and never wins a single playoff game. That's incredible to me. God I hope Arte sells.

Artie definitely neglected the farm system. Teams invest in their farm system to build a winning organization. It takes time and the money spent isn’t as flashy as signing a big name free agent. Artie had Ohtani at a bargain price and pocketed the savings instead of investing. REN-DONE signing was an abysmal failure. The Angels had their share of bad luck with the injuries to Trout but they were never a serious contender and should have traded Ohtani at the trade deadline or even before the season to maximize his value and acquire players to replace him. Moreno and Minasain were conned into believing that they could compete. Nevin was the stooge that was too worried about keeping his job rather than tell them the truth. This team wasn’t close to contention. 

Arte Moreno is the worst thing that ever happened to the Angels. And there have been some really bad things.

I like Blum. I like @Jeff Fletcher. I like hearing different perspectives. 
Arte pinching pennies behind the scenes is not at all surprising. A lot of you guys were making fun of the minor league players for complaining about their living situations but the fact of the matter is, we need every single player in the org to be happy and getting everything they need, on and off the field.
I don't give a shit about any politics behind this. Arte needs to take care of his organization from top to bottom.

I see no scenario where Ohtani picks the Angels. 

We've been trying that for years. Time to try something else.

This injury excuse is laughable.  What about in 2022?  Or 2021?  Or 2020?  Or 2019?  The Angels must have really bad injuries on a yearly basis, because they're soon to be at a decade since they made a playoff appearance.  They've been in the Playoffs ONCE in 14 Seasons, and they got swept 3-0 when they did.
The Angels will be lucky to get any quality player to play here, let alone Ohtani.

Pretty sure Arte Moreno is the only owner capable of such a remarkable feat of absolute incompetence.

The only way a reasonably intelligent org would take his contract on is if he's healthy most of next season, which is not only a big if, but then would mean that the Angels should probably keep him.
I think the Angels are stuck with Trout, and Trout is stuck with the Angels.

I have another unpopular take.
The training staff gets too much blame.
They have switched these guys out in years past.  They had no TJ surgeries last year or the year before.  But this year we have had 3?  Do we really think they are doing something different than what was working last year?  
Trout, Rendon, Ward’s injuries were batters box injuries, unrelated to the training staff.  
Do we really think Ohtani’s oblique issue is caused by the training staff not giving that guy the right training regiment?  
 
It is another example of fans wanting easy answers to complicated, multifaceted issues.

I realized like 5 years ago this team would never win anything as long as Arte owns the team.  He's not going to approve a full rebuild.  I 100% expect them to spend more money again this offseason, and again not go over the luxury tax, to try to win with the young group we have + free agents + whatever you get from Trout/Rendon
