John McKay was one of a kind, and a perfect fit for the first Bucs team. I remember him saying that in the team's first camp, he had players there who would not have made his team at USC.

As much as last week was embarrassing and terrible, this week was awesome and wonderful.  Add to that that everyone else in division lost. Somehow the Bucs are still only a game back lol.

Hey Guys.  This is David, Matt's Dad.  Thank you for the kind words and the laughs.  I have been on the board for quite some time, but do not write too many comments. Just to clear a couple of things up.  My wife, Karen, Matt's Mom does not have a beard.  HaHa  I do not have a full beard now but did a few years ago. Just a mustache and goatee now.  Thanks for supporting Matt.  He is a great young man who has worked his butt off to get to where he is at.  I am so glad he was finally given the chance to help this team.  We are so blessed that he has performed the way he has.  He will give you every thing he has each time he pitches.  I hope it continues. GO ANGELS!

I don't know if you have an account here, but I know you at least read this board. I just wanted to say thank you for having Matt. He is awesome.
 
Also, I'm assuming you have a beard, or have at least had one at some point in your life, but thank you for giving him his genes so we can stare at that bush of holiness while your son pitches.

Nascar, F1, Cart, and the minor leagues should have had rules in place a long time ago.  You leave your car after an accident or you don't go directly to the nearest wall or safety safari dude, and instead do some type of macho thing, then you get a one month suspension with no replacement driver for your car.  That would stop this type of behavior in it's tracks.  

How can anybody still say the Wells deal is good? Didn't work out is an understatement. THey got such bad production from the guy that they decided they were better off getting rid of him(while paying the money). They are still paying him a little over $18 million this year and he's been off the team for 2 seasons now

Prospects are just that. They're prospects, wildcards. If I remember correctly this board was pissed about the Greinke trade. I get that he was basically a rental, but looking back it doesn't seem so bad right? I didn't like the trade because we were playing catch up, we're trying to protect a lead in the wild card now and play a little catch up.
From hearing all of you talk and what not it seems JD did his homework on starting pitchers. Some of you overvalue our prospects and I do the same, hard not to be a homer. But I believe bloodbrother made a good point a few weeks back when he said, it took Will Meyers to get Shields from TB. Unless you wanna start taking away bench players from our ML club we got nothing to offer TB. I rather not break up the chemistry of this club right now, all these comeback wins and extra inning wins like last night, we got something special.
So what does JD do? He goes out and tries to shorten every game by getting a closer for prospects. Guys like Shoemaker and Skaggs can now go out and give us 5 hard innings and then let the bullpen take over. If we had Street last night I bet Weaver doesn't come out for the 7th and we win that game in 9.
Anyway, I like the trade. We are a team built to win now with some pieces to win in the future. I hope Arte realizes it's going to take money to keep this team going over the next few years.

Yes we gave up a lot but when since the days when Krod was good have we had a good real closer ? I think the time has come and it's a good move - he's not a few month rental either a la Grienke or Tex - this team has a real chance to go far in the postseason - gotta take the gamble

My friend and I went to the draft Friday. I've never heard booing as loud as when Bettman first came to the podium. And they kept it up every single pick. Thirty times Gary Bettman approached the podium and all thirty times the crowd booed him. Bettman learned under David Stern and I think he needs to embrace the hatred. Stern's final NBA Draft was amazing because all he did was troll the crowd all night.
I highly recommend going to the draft if it's ever around where any of you live. Great, fun atmosphere. The Cup was there and the NHL also had a roped off display of all of the league awards and trophies.

Congratulations, Kings fans!
