halobob reacted to FabulousFabregas in I'm rioting
Because of the Zimmerman ruling and the Angels' performance tonight, I refuse to stand for it. I will be driving 2 MPH over the speed limit for the rest of the night. Irvine Police Department, you are on notice #TheOCRiots

Hearing your love for your wife is the best part.
Also, the Miami vice reference is great as always

I see that we are using the term "developed nation" rather loosely these days...

halobob reacted to Stradling in Lawn mowing, Part 2
Can I have the address? I would like to swing by every once in awhile and say hi to the crazy neighbor. See if he would like to buy a set of Encyclopedias. Maybe see if he would like to join my religious cult. Then possibly see if he would like to help me out by buying some magazine subscriptions. Then see if he would like to take the Sunday paper. I could also see if he would like the Sunday Ticket for no extra charge (I might need GG's help, the dude not the chick, on this one) for signing up with Directv. Just something new and different every Sunday morning around 7am. I will go dressed as myself every time, just asking him for something new each time. Oh and when I leave, I will sprinkle a few grass clippings on his driveway as I walk away.

halobob reacted to nate in The Halos need to be buyers at the deadline for SP but who?
Angels don't "need" to do anything but stand pat. Trading for a SP would be very stupid. Our farm system is barren. We are still way outside of the wildcard race. Even if we are within one game at the trade deadline I hope we don't trade for anyone.

Forget the sign and trade. Make him take a year less with less money.

halobob reacted to Catwhoshatinthehat in Kid drowns at RSM pool
Crappy story. As far as not having enough eyes on the pool that should fall on parents when we're talking about small children. If you have a child who isn't the strongest swimmer or it's crowded and there's older/bigger kids in the water you need to watch your kid.

How is that any better than the healthy and active paying for the unhealthy sloth?
Just implement it for anyone that gets rejected by health insurance companies for underwriting reasons.

There are lots of things we pay for in life because of genetic, etc. IMO smoking and over weight both should be charged much more. Something like 75% of all ER visits are a result of smoking. Coincidentally, ER bills are the highest of all. I should not be paying for that as a non smoker. What the govt really should have done was create a high risk pool for people who are grossly over weight and smokers, pay for it with a tax on cigarettes and soda/unhealthy foods. So the same people that are spending the money are also paying for it.

halobob reacted to Mudville in Part of Obamacare Delayed a Year
That safety net was in place long before this health care bill was passed and never overburdened the public nor did it fine anyone for not participating. It was an as needed emergency fund instead of a full time everyone on board plan. Somehow we were all better off with Halobob betting against disaster.

Under ACA people are no longer underwritten so people who are healthy are paying much more for their insurance than they were. You can be a fat, out of shape, chain smoker and pay the same as someone with less than 10% bmi, non smoker, etc. It is ridiculous.

halobob reacted to AngelsLongBall in UCLA Associate AD resigns amid investigation
He didn't use his position of influence to lure these children. It's not an UCLA problem. It's a "he's a ****ing piece of shit who should rot in jail" problem

halobob reacted to Lifetime in Part of Obamacare Delayed a Year
The bottom line is SA, young people utilize their insurance far less than older people. The point is the risk that the insurance companies have to take on. A mix of younger people in the pool brings down the overall risk of the pool versus a pool of predominantly older people.

haha, restraining the perp.
Dude walked back and even got in position to be cuffed. One officer was fine and was going to cuff him while the other did that dickhead thing of lifting his arms like he was resisting and needed back up.
I still say everyone involved is a dickhead. But moreso the cops should have let some dbag walk away like he did. Especially with peeps sitting on the curb. Let's leave the potential real criminals alone to arrest so idiot with a cell phone.
