  1. We're waiting for the Diamondbacks and Rockies to take out the trash.
  2. We will offer him a three-year contract. Those three years are 2015, 2017 and 2019.
  3. For all of those interested (and I know that you are, Nevada inmate #1027820, Orenthal J. Simpson, currently housed at Lovelock Correctional Center, is due to be considered for parole on July 25, 2013.
  4. There wasn't a reason last year, either, but one of the primary differences in the AL West race last year was how the respective teams fared against the Astros. The Rangers were 17-2, the Athletics were 15-4 and we were 9-10.
  5. So he wants a team to be obligated to him, but he wants to be able to screw them over if he has a good season. Got it.
  6. Not only that, you don't want to create unrealistic expectations among the fan base. You don't want the fans booing him because he doesn't strike out 15 in his first start.
  7. The Mariners love ex-Angels, for some reason. The list is long. Just off the top of my head, Washburn, Spiezio, Hasegawa, Morales, Figgins, Kennedy, and now Rodney.
  8. That is my thought as well. If he had a chance of beating it, that would have been disclosed up front. My guess is that the news is grave.
  9. That is tough news. I have been through losing both family and friends to cancer, and I'm sure that most of you have as well. It's a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone.
  10. The way I understand it, a player has to be with his team for the entire year the previous season to get a QO. If a player sits out until June because of not being signed after getting a QO, he couldn't get a QO again. Article from MLB Trade Rumors explaining qualifying offers
  11. I wonder how the ball is coming out of his hand when he takes infield practice. That is probably tomorrow's article.
  12. One thing to bear in mind: A lot of our visitors come from southern California, and historically they tend to bet their own teams in futures bets. I believe that the shorter odds may be an effort to even out the betting money rather than any display of confidence in the Angels.
  13. I'm glad that they kept the "in Arlington" part so that Rangers fans will know where they are even after the name change.
  14. That last part never struck me before, but you're absolutely right. I grew up in the south surrounded by people like this. It amazes me sometimes how I escaped with anything approaching an open mind and tolerance.
  15. That is one of the looniest things I have ever heard. That would make Sharron Angle proud.
  16. The article I read said that something like one in every ten million lobsters turn out that color. There have only been about half a dozen ever caught.
  17. And I'll sign right now, one-year contract with no vesting. Call me, Jerry.
  18. I'm not sure, but I believe that they have three million people signed up so far.
  19. We hit record highs a couple of times last week (in the 70s), and this week highs in the 40s again.
  20. The only umbrella I own is a Texas Rangers logo one. Giveaway at a Yankees-Rangers game I attended years ago.
  21. The point is that Angle is the candidate who the Tea Party got behind, and it tipped the balance in the GOP US Senate primary election. One of us could have been the GOP nominee and beaten Harry Reid. He was that dead in the water until Angle showed up. A poll right after the GOP primary showed her with a 14-point lead over Reid. Given two or three weeks for people to find out what she really is and that changed to a seven-point deficit (within less than a month). All Reid had to do was just play Angle's own statements over and over again. He probably didn't even need to campaign. Angle was so far over the edge that her campaign manager canceled a debate with Reid and basically kept her under wraps for the last 3-4 weeks of the campaign. He was convinced that her best chance was to become basically invisible to voters.
