  1. The thread title says "greatest", not "most inexplicable".
  2. I'm not sure that I agree. Eventually the message will get out that if you want to go to Anaheim, you can't leave the offer sitting on the table and continue to shop your services. Either you want to be here or you don't. Moreno is probably tired of being played by free agents who use his offers to shop for more money elsewhere. I'm fine with it.
  3. My Windows is on automatic update, and it is always installing new stuff. I can't imagine that it's missing anything. I have never had the experience before of using a tech support article that makes the problem worse. I have tried some that didn't work, but this one disables part of my computer - the part that it is supposedly providing drivers for.
  4. Some people can't decide between the two we started with. I can't imagine where this will lead.
  5. "Headed by Fred Phelps and consisting mostly of his family..." That's quite a following there. If any of these idiots had shown up at my father's funeral (World War II and Korean War veteran), they wouldn't have had to move them very far once I was done. There are plenty of empty plots left.
  6. Pretty much. My sister owned a Fiat X1/9 that spent more time in the shop than it did in her driveway. I owned a 1982 Peugeot 505S turbodiesel that used to get some really strange maladies. It had a separate vacuum pump for the power brakes that failed during a trip in rural Arkansas, where of course there was absolutely no shortage of Peugeot parts.
  7. Last year we were six games under with him. Without him we're the Houston Astros, only with older players and bigger contracts.
  8. Blanton doesn't need a purpose to throw meatballs. It just comes naturally. Maybe Scioscia will bring Blanton in to pitch to him in his last AB at the Big A. Like a going away present.
  9. Funny that you can see that, but people in our front office can't. And those people are paid to see it.
  10. Hamilton is a lot more likely to earn his over five years than Albert Pujols is over ten.
  11. "We have not prejudged," Dipoto said when asked where Blanton stands. "We're not in a position as an organization, nor is there enough pitching in the industry, to prejudge. Joe Blanton has had a solid Major League career; he's coming off a poor year. We have to be open-minded to how he can bounce back. If we find out that he can't, we'll make that judgment at the appropriate time." Blanton isn't just coming off a poor year. He is coming off a year so bad that the Angels probably could have brought up any pitcher in the organization regardless of level and matched his production. And all that for only $7.5M. Funny how we keep being told that money is not an issue, yet it is repeatedly cited as the main reason that various moves to help the club were not made.
  12. Wouldn't mind Jacksonville picking him up, except that I could see "Fag Jag" signs popping up all over the NFL if it happens.
  13. I don't know if there is a stat for such things, but I would have to say you're pretty much dead on.
  14. I saw a skit by comedian John Caponera in which he told a joke about suicide bomber instructors: "I'm only going to show you this one time!"
  15. Not really the end of the world in my case, but the Angels have definitely painted themselves into a very avoidable corner by signing 30+ year old players to long-term big money deals.
  16. Same here. And I have taken a ball in the mouth. Taught me very quickly the value of correct glove positioning.
  17. Had one of these on US 95 north of Las Vegas not long ago, a route I once traveled to and from work several times per week. A driver was running northbound in the southbound lane, hit a truck head on just as they were cresting a hill, not much left of either vehicle. My boss was just a few car lengths behind the vehicle that was hit head on, saw the collision, pronounced the truck driver dead at the scene. Three people killed, both drivers and a passenger in the truck, a company vehicle for a local construction company.
  18. LaGuardia was bad in 1966. I can't imagine that it has improved.
  19. Minnesota is rebuilding, so I don't see them parting with young pitching for veteran players either.
