  1. Had one of these on US 95 north of Las Vegas not long ago, a route I once traveled to and from work several times per week. A driver was running northbound in the southbound lane, hit a truck head on just as they were cresting a hill, not much left of either vehicle. My boss was just a few car lengths behind the vehicle that was hit head on, saw the collision, pronounced the truck driver dead at the scene. Three people killed, both drivers and a passenger in the truck, a company vehicle for a local construction company.
  2. LaGuardia was bad in 1966. I can't imagine that it has improved.
  3. Minnesota is rebuilding, so I don't see them parting with young pitching for veteran players either.
  4. We're waiting for the Diamondbacks and Rockies to take out the trash.
  5. We will offer him a three-year contract. Those three years are 2015, 2017 and 2019.
  6. For all of those interested (and I know that you are, Nevada inmate #1027820, Orenthal J. Simpson, currently housed at Lovelock Correctional Center, is due to be considered for parole on July 25, 2013.
  7. There wasn't a reason last year, either, but one of the primary differences in the AL West race last year was how the respective teams fared against the Astros. The Rangers were 17-2, the Athletics were 15-4 and we were 9-10.
  8. So he wants a team to be obligated to him, but he wants to be able to screw them over if he has a good season. Got it.
  9. Not only that, you don't want to create unrealistic expectations among the fan base. You don't want the fans booing him because he doesn't strike out 15 in his first start.
  10. The Mariners love ex-Angels, for some reason. The list is long. Just off the top of my head, Washburn, Spiezio, Hasegawa, Morales, Figgins, Kennedy, and now Rodney.
  11. That is my thought as well. If he had a chance of beating it, that would have been disclosed up front. My guess is that the news is grave.
  12. That is tough news. I have been through losing both family and friends to cancer, and I'm sure that most of you have as well. It's a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone.
  13. The way I understand it, a player has to be with his team for the entire year the previous season to get a QO. If a player sits out until June because of not being signed after getting a QO, he couldn't get a QO again. Article from MLB Trade Rumors explaining qualifying offers
  14. I wonder how the ball is coming out of his hand when he takes infield practice. That is probably tomorrow's article.
  15. One thing to bear in mind: A lot of our visitors come from southern California, and historically they tend to bet their own teams in futures bets. I believe that the shorter odds may be an effort to even out the betting money rather than any display of confidence in the Angels.
  16. I'm glad that they kept the "in Arlington" part so that Rangers fans will know where they are even after the name change.
  17. That last part never struck me before, but you're absolutely right. I grew up in the south surrounded by people like this. It amazes me sometimes how I escaped with anything approaching an open mind and tolerance.
  18. That is one of the looniest things I have ever heard. That would make Sharron Angle proud.
  19. The article I read said that something like one in every ten million lobsters turn out that color. There have only been about half a dozen ever caught.
  20. And I'll sign right now, one-year contract with no vesting. Call me, Jerry.
  21. I'm not sure, but I believe that they have three million people signed up so far.
  22. We hit record highs a couple of times last week (in the 70s), and this week highs in the 40s again.
