Vegas has to clear about 2.5 in cap space to bring Eichel back. They can do it by putting Stone on LTIR or both of Howden and Carrier. They may choose to stash Stone for the rest of the regular season and use his cap money to bring back Smith or go after Rico or even Guentzel but any of that means he's definitely done til the playoffs
It has been a brutal year on the injury front. Even with some of the injured guys back, there were still four players from the minors in the lineup against Toronto on Thursday.

If you have Tmobile, they usually give it out for free during one of the Tmobile Tuesday's close to the start of the season
I will have to check on that.

So. Stone is out possibly till the end of the season. Rico would look fantastic on that team. I really hope he goes to either Vegas, Colorado, Edmonton and even Vancouver as I think one of those teams will win it all.
I haven't heard any trade rumors about what the Knights might do, but they don't usually talk a lot in advance of deals. The team has been really flat lately, losing two straight at home and getting flattened by Toronto last night. The high injury toll has definitely played a role, and several of the injured guys have yet to return. I read that Eichel might be back during the road trip that begins tomorrow in Ottawa.

i applaud what the nfl is attempting, but i don't find it appealing. it probably appeals to a younger audience.
I'm glad that I went to the Pro Bowl the last year before they started the flag football nonsense. Even without tackling, it was entertaining, and what was run resembled actual plays. I'm not going to pay to see a sport that I played on the playground in the seventh grade.

Four divisions of four geographically with several teams moving to the other league. A/L East Baltimore, Boston, New York and Toronto. A/L Central White Sox, Cleveland, Detroit and the Twins. A/L South Tampa, Miami, Atlanta and Washington. A/L West Angels, A's, Arizona and San Diego. N/L East Mets, Phillies, Pirates and the Reds. N/L Central Cubs, Brewers, St. Louis and Royals. N/L South Nashville, Houston , Texas and Rockies. N/L West Dodgers, Giants, Portland and Seattle. Geographically it makes sense provided it's Nashville and Portland that are the new teams, but this will never happen because there would be to many teams moving.
Just do away with the American and National Leagues altogether. Interleague play has essentially done that already. Set up divisions that make geographic sense, and have everyone play under the MLB banner.

There is a lot that would need to happen before expansion can be considered. Manfred has said he’s stepping down in ‘29 when his contract is up, and that between now and then he didn’t foresee any expansion decisions to be made before then. Some of this also hinges on the resolution of the A’s situation. The city of Oakland has a lot of leverage here because the A’s have no home after the ‘24 season, and the schedule for the ‘25 season needs to be set by July. Well, the A’s don’t want to forego $70/year by leaving the Bay Are now and go play in a MiLB park for four seasons. The city can ask for the Moon right now in exchange for keeping the zombie A’s around: an expansion team that keeps the name, colors, and history of the A’s, demand that MLB force Fisher sell to someone like Joe Lacob then give Fisher an expansion team in Vegas. There could be a new team in Vegas or Oakland before any of these other sites are considered. It’s a fascinating mess right now.
Mess is a good way to describe it. The Mayor of Las Vegas is beginning to believe that this group is too disorganized to pull off the relocation. She openly said that they should go back and talk to Oakland.
Locally there is basically zero enthusiasm for the A's. IMO a lot of it goes back to the "parallel paths" nonsense that went on for almost two years, supposedly having a binding agreement for one site here then flipping to another (which is far less suitable for a ballpark and will create a traffic nightmare), promising a final decision and then not delivering multiple times, all the while pursuing Howard Terminal in Oakland. We have had the sense all along that we were being played for leverage, and little that has happened since has changed that perception.
We want an MLB team. Just not this one.

If you move Arizona or Colorado to the AL, you not only have to move them but you then have to move someone else from the NL Central to the NL West. And it’d be hard to get an NL Central team to switch from that travel to West Coast travel. Plus the time differences. Any west coast games would start at 9 pm central time.
None of that stopped MLB from sticking the Braves in the NL West when divisions were first introduced. It made zero sense to put a team in a state with an Atlantic coast in the same division with three California teams.

Angels win community should just collectively bet the angels every year and split if it’s ever won.
At work we used to collect money from multiple people and buy Mega Lotto and Powerball tickets. We won $200 once, but that was the most significant win. If we won less than $100, our agreement was to just put it back into the next round.

I am not saying I am optimistic the Angels will be real WS contenders in any way.
But I saw +15000 on one site and +18000 on another site for them to win the WS.
I am pretty sure I’m going to throw a few bucks on that.
I would drop $20 at those odds.
The 18K:1 is at FanDuel. I can get 15K:1 at established sports books.

If anyone is interested, a reporter named Brodie Brazil is covering this story pretty comprehensively on YouTube. He works for NBC Sports Bat Area. It’s been a pretty interesting saga. The locals here are lukewarm at best on the A’s maybe moving here. I feel like once our Mayor said they should stay in Oakland, that began to really kill Fisher’s leverage. They have nowhere to go until 2028 at the earliest. MLB doesn’t want them moving place to place until then. No one else has a viable stadium. Plus if they leave Oakland, they lose $70M/year in RSN money while they play in minor league ballparks. Fisher doesn’t want to lose that.
I have watched his YouTube videos. He has a lot of interesting takes.

@StradlingI’m on board with this point of view. In my opinion, this is a majority opinion of most “true” Angels fans. The funny thing about fan forums (like I need to tell you about fan forums) is that when a person takes a contrarian view, even if it’s slight, you make yourself a target.
Truth is the Angels lost their argumentatively best player in the off season, and as fans, we want them to make the playoffs as a minimum. Truth is, it probably won’t happen but who knows? If the Angels make a 10 game improvement like you stated, that is a step in the right direction. I can live with that in a post-Ohtani world. Most have written this team off.
My point is, like you stated, improving isn’t always huge steps, but if this team can show it’s going in the right direction this season, as our young players develop, maybe we can get this ship going the right direction.
I'm far happier with this than them spending big on questionable free agents just to give the illusion of contending.

The idea has been floated of Fisher selling the A's to local ownership and building the Howard Terminal ballpark and putting an expansion team in Las Vegas.

Yup, and the Chiefs said they were preparing for that since training camp, while Shanahan said they didn’t even have a meeting about it during SB week. Players, including their Harvard man Kyle Juszczyk, were quoted after the game saying they didn’t know the rule. Juszczyk even said it didn’t matter that they didn’t know the rule. The hell it didn’t!
If they believed that all that they needed was a field goal and the game was over, there wouldn't be the same sense of urgency once they got inside the 20.
That said, I didn't see SF players celebrating like they had won the game once the field goal went through.

Didn’t the Chiefs just win the Super Bowl while the Niners didn’t even know about the two-year-old overtime rule? Elite athletes tend to be very focused individuals.
It was explained to the captains before the OT coin toss.

What would the best location be in Vegas?
They originally chose a site west of the Strip off Tropicana where the Wild Wild West casino once sat. That would be far better than a Strip location, which Fisher seems to be obsessed with.

To be honest, I had rather have an expansion team than the A's. Team ownership has been like the Keystone Kops in the way that they have handled this. Even the location that they are insisting on would worsen Strip traffic, and it is too small for the stadium design that has been proposed. I'm pretty certain that they are going to blow this. Even our mayor has said that they need to talk to Oakland.

I have gotten every one that has come out, and I will continue to do so. I have a strong grasp of infection control principles and the evolution of viral diseases. It's no different from needing a new influenza vaccine every year because the virus has changed.
