Somebody got the idea to put two of them on a main thoroughfare in a relatively affluent part of Las Vegas. There were quite a few dented Lexuses and Mercedes until people became accustomed to them.

When I was in Mexico, a Mexican asked me my opinion of the immigration issue. I told him that I have no issue whatsoever with someone who tries to better his or her overall situation. However, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it.

When I still had my '99 Jaguar XJ8, I had some issues with slow speed stalling. Did some checking and found copious gummy deposits on the throttle plate, cleaned it off and never had another problem. A Jaguar technician told me when I mentioned this that "There are some issues with our vehicles and gasoline." He said that Jaguar recommends either Shell or Chevron because the additives help to keep the fuel system clean and minimize deposits (like what I found on my throttle plate). Have used Shell ever since, partly because there are two stations near my house and one across the street from my work, and with their Fuel Rewards program I get discounts on the fuel I buy. Have not had a fuel system-related issue since with any vehicle I have owned.

They are too smart of an organization to believe that Blanton would be the answer to anything for even one start. This is just a sports writer identifying a team with a need and trying to create a story.

I remember the question being posed here last season whether we had rather have Trout or Puig. While the sentiment was overwhelmingly in Trout's favor, I couldn't see that same question being posed now.

The longest flight I have ever been on was LAX to London Heathrow, have done it twice. A mere 11 1/2 hours. Awake for every minute of both flights, have never been able to sleep on a plane. Given that I just got an e-mail offering me a "discounted" fare of almost $1,800 per person for the same trip, doubt that I will be making it again anytime soon. When we went in 2001 we paid $750 round trip for two people.

I look at it this way. It's addition by subtraction. Virtually anybody we run out there would be an improvement over Blanton, and if he is off the roster he isn't blowing games for us. Several other people have brought up the point that we need to get off to a fast start given the injury situations at Oakland and Texas, and Blanton is a major impediment to that. He has shown that he is capable of blowing virtually any lead. The only way I would want him on the mound is in a situation in which another team would bring in a backup infielder to pitch late in a game when they are on the wrong end of a blowout. If we have a player on the roster who is only good for those kinds of situations, that is a wasted roster spot.

Wonder what that means for Geno Smith's future. Also wondering if anyone will take a flier on Mark Sanchez.
