Blanton is a large sample size, and we know how horrible he was a year ago. We could call up just about anyone and at least match that performance, if not improve upon it. The Angels are trying desperately to get some production out of that terrible contract before it ends, IMO, and it is clouding their judgment about what must be done. They are so anxious to see any sign of improvement in Blanton that they see it everywhere.
If Blanton went the rest of the spring without giving up a baserunner, would it make any of us more confident to see him out there when the games really count? My short answer is a resounding "no".
