  1. Just schedule a series for those two every year, and then conduct the playoffs with everyone else.
  2. My hatred of the Dodgers is already well entrenched. It goes back to the beginning of divisional play in 1969. In their infinite wisdom MLB decided to put a team in Georgia, a state with an Atlantic coast, in the same division with Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego.
  3. For the record, I don't recall commenting on any previous contracts, other than to say that they were overpayment or a bad investment. If $700 million isn't crazy to you, you live in a far different world than I do.
  4. No. Almost nobody has that kind of pitching depth. At the time, it was also an unknown how he would adjust to being in MLB as opposed to Japan. I doubt that anyone was totally confident that he could do both at a high level in MLB, and they weren't willing to upend their organizations to find out.
  5. If you are the owner of a baseball team, at some point you have to listen to your baseball people and heed their advice if you want to be successful.
  6. Just when you believed that Ohtani leaving might be the catalyst for a fundamental change in team operations.
  7. I have never been a big fan of state names for professional sports teams. The rest of it seems like a good idea - meaning that the Angels won't do it. Moreno will continue to believe that we are just a couple of free agents away from winning it all.
  8. Paying that kind of money for one player is insane. I realize that the Dodgers have deferred a bunch of the money, perhaps most, but it will still come due.
  9. Not at all. Just that most teams would not have done the same thing - one reason that the Angels landed Ohtani in the first place.
  10. I don't know whether Ohtani requested not to be traded at the deadline. If so, you can add another chapter to that. In fairness, one reason that the Angels landed Ohtani in the first place was that they agreed to let him both hit and pitch.
  11. It was a BFD. It required carrying an extra starter, and it also upset the routines of five other pitchers when Ohtani wasn't able to pitch and the rotation had to be moved up. Don't underestimate the effects of disruption in the routine of a starting pitcher, especially when it happens multiple times. I will lay money that the Dodgers won't do it. Ohtani basically called the shots while he was here. He decided when he would pitch. He decided when he would be in the lineup. IMO the Angels jumped through an incredible number of hoops for him - including trading for help at the deadline when they could have gotten a significant return of prospects for Ohtani which would have put the team in a much better position than they are in now. At this point the Angels get a second round pick with zero assurances that the player selected will ever amount to anything, even in the minors. I wish Ohtani well. His team, that is a different story entirely. Just like Freddie Freeman was nothing to me after he moved west, now Ohtani is nothing to me after moving north.
  12. I did see a couple of breasts, but I don't believe that they were chicken.
  13. For the Dodgers to even think about winning a ring, that means Kershaw pitching in October. We all know how that ends. If they could just get the Commissioner to shorten every season to 60 games... If you bail on a team because a single player leaves in free agency, you were never on board to begin with. Mods, a troll cage, please.
  14. Sucks to be Tim. When the county sanctions your killing...
  15. I'm sure that the implication is that these people cast ballots, which they don't.
  16. I got mine at our DMV. I was there for about 15-20 minutes - but then I had all of my documentation in order ahead of time, unlike some others.
  17. I would consider riding it to SoCal rather than spending hours on I-15 and fighting the traffic.
  18. I go to En Fuego on Sahara. They had a different location on Sahara within a couple of blocks of the Strip. Parking was almost nonexistent. They moved several blocks west and got a bigger place for much lower rent, and parking is easy. Eight is on the Strip, meaning take reasonable prices and double them - at least. It might be worth going once. I went to the Montecristo Cigar Bar at Caesars, took one look at the prices and walked out. Dropping $30-40 on one stick isn't my price point.
  19. Notice that the ingredients aren't listed on the label.
  20. Wait a minute. Cash was in Atlanta? I thought that he got traded back here. Well, there's another hole on the 40 man.
  21. I was at my favorite cigar lounge watching the Golden Knights-Stars game and Army-Navy when someone spotted it on the trailer of the football broadcast. The only club who could feasibly pay that kind of money did.
