  1. Our AAA depth has a disturbing tendency to wind up on the field in the majors.
  2. Don't forget all of the additions to the roster. It wasn't just Bochy walking into a static locker room and bang, they're champions.
  3. We still got Yankees-Red Sox games on a fairly consistent basis even with both of them at or near the bottom of the division and nothing really at stake.
  4. Casual fans are only going to watch if it involves one of the four or five teams that they have ever heard of.
  5. I worked with someone who played on the women's basketball team at Indiana when Knight coached the men's team. She said that her coach would allow Knight to come in and essentially take over her practices, because everybody at Indiana was scared of Knight. He would run the players to the brink of exhaustion, and scream at them how worthless and lazy that they were, because this was motivation.
  6. Another possibility is to adopt rules that the World Football League used in the 1970s. A touchdown was worth seven points (so that it was worth more than two field goals). After a touchdown a team tried for one point on what was called an "action point". The team had to run or pass for the extra point.
  7. I saw this in an article. Bumgarner gets a ring if they win.
  8. Alex Grinch's USC defense held a team who couldn't move the ball against Auburn to only 49 points. Cal had the game won if they had hung onto the football.
  9. Handing Ortiz a game ball when he took him out of Game 6 was probably his crowning achievement.
  10. Gore won three times, but it was over a seven year period.
  11. Can't be too careful, or have too many Will Smiths.
  12. It's moot. Nobody is trading for Trout because he can't stay in the lineup. Not a great trait in an expensive player.
  13. If the Rangers win the World Series, he will become the first player in MLB history to win three consecutive World Series, all with different teams. He was the closer for the 2021 Atlanta Braves when they beat the Houston Astros. At last year's trade deadline he was dealt to Houston. This year he signed with Texas as a free agent.
