  1. The pessimists sees a lot of strike outs. The optimist says, "holy $hit, he has something to work on and be even better?"
  2. "At the time, Norwegian media speculated that al-Zawahiri may have confused Norway with neighboring Denmark." Say what you will, but at least when people say Death to America, they mean it. No one ever says Death to Canada!...oops, we meant America.
  3. I agree with the article in a sense, I just think the term "giving up your future for a coin flip" is a little flippant. I mean there has to value on making a game that has a 50% chance of making a run into the post season and it would merit making some moves.
  4. I can't believe that article wasn't in The Onion.
  5. I don't really view it as mean Splint, I just think most people are just having fun with it.
  6. I was thinking the Dodgers would probably be found around 10% responsible. I am not surprised by the verdict, you have to imagine the jury room was a negotiation between those who thought the Dodgers had no responsibility and those that wanted to see Stow get a lot of money regardless, because the Dodgers are the only one with deep pockets. In that scenario you can see how they came to a 25% number. I don't think anyone expects the 2 criminals to come up with any of the money, but it does ensure that if they ever, by some dumb stroke of luck, come into some money, it will have to go to their victim.
  7. I have the Lagavulin 16 also, did you get it at Costco, too? I like it, but a lot of people who aren't whiskey drinkers have not liked that one. (Fine with me, I didn't really want to share anyway!)
  8. I was reading a Whiskey blog that said something to the effect of "it is your whiskey, drink it how you like. If you prefer it on the rocks, drink it on the rocks. That being said, never drink your good Whiskey on the rocks." I have found myself agreeing with this position the more I drink whiskey and scotch. I have found that just a tiny bit of water, like drops, not even a splash, really helps open the flavor and smoothness.
  9. This is what the government funded report done by the University of Pennsylvania concluded: In sum, AWs and LCMs were used in up to a quarter of gun crimes prior to the 1994 AW-LCM ban. By most estimates, AWs were used in less than 6% of gun crimes even before the ban. Some may have perceived their use to be more widespread, however, due to the use of AWs in particularly rare and highly publicized crimes such as mass shootings (and, to a lesser extent, murders of police), survey reports suggesting high levels of AW ownership among some groups of offenders, and evidence that some AWs are more attractive to criminal than lawful gun buyers. In contrast, guns equipped with LCMs – of which AWs are a subset – are used in roughly 14% to 26% of gun crimes. Accordingly, the LCM ban has greater potential for affecting gun crime. However, it is not clear how often the ability to fire more than 10 shots without reloading (the current magazine capacity limit) affects the outcomes of gun attacks (see Chapter 9). All of this suggests that the ban’s impact on gun violence is likely to be small. https://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/nij/grants/204431.pdf
  10. He never described himself as Tea Party, and obviously he received very little, if any national Tea Party support if he only raised $150k.
  11. No Tobias. I think the government classifies them as destructive devices, which is basically the ATF's way of telling you hell no, but I don't think any manufacturer would sell to anything but military and law enforcement, anyway.
  12. Supreme Courts ruling that corporations have legal protections based on the fact they are comprised of people only goes back to the early 1800's. But yeah, screw them, they ruled corporations are people! (OK, they didn't, but we have to condense it down to bumper sticker slogans!)
  13. You think Joe said "oops" when he say the Fox trax later? That was just wicked late break on a ball, crosses at the bottom of the knees and almost ends in the dirt before the catcher can get it!
  14. I agree that highlight reels don't mean much, but that looked like some MLB quality plays at 3rd base he was making.
  15. Tonight, especially getting the pop out against Reddick after a 3-0 count will give Sosh some more faith in him. What a great start tonight.
  16. Cops are important. Who else could theater owners call when a diabetic man tries to bring fruit into a movie? http://nypost.com/2014/03/28/theater-calls-cops-on-diabetic-man-with-strawberries/
  17. I guess he was lucky? I wouldn't consider myself lucky if I had a chainsaw sticking out of my neck though.
  18. I heard MLB uses credit card info along with IP addresses to try to determine if people are using a VPN to circumvent blackout rules.
  19. Playoffs?! You want to talk about playoffs? I just hope we can win a game.
  20. I do not think they should retire Vlad's number, even if/when he makes the HOF. I would feel that way even if it wasn't Trout's number right now.
  21. I never heard of the song "Let it Go" till I watched this video, but I know how many Senators are from each state. No wonder I can't pick up on college chicks.
  22. I can't tell the difference, but Arrowhead wins in my house.
