  1. I just plunked down $540 for a Shohei Ohtani 2017 Bowman Chrome Refractor RC BGS 9.5 (sub grades: 9.5, 9.5, 9.5, 10)... Which is the most I've ever paid for a single card - and I've been collecting since the mid-80's.  I've got cards worth more than this one - some I've purchased individually (Mantle, Jackie Robinson, Trout RC auto, etc - but bought them for less years ago) and many others I've pulled from packs or traded for them...

So what's the most you've paid for a card...?

Figure this beats bitching about the team and management for a few minutes :)...

  2. So...

I gave Arte a "neither approve nor disapprove" - He has proven he'll spend his money (not every org can say that - and that alone almost had me give him a "moderately approve").  I think he's also given fans an improved experience at the ball park... I'm not a big fan of his "meddling" in the baseball operations (see: Josh Hamilton)...

I gave Perry a "moderately approve" - While you can't mistake activity for achievement - he has really come up with some creative finds to fix some of the present problems.  I LOVE what he did in the draft (all pitching).  And I liked the Heaney trade... and I LOVE that we cut ties with Pujols...

I gave Maddon a "moderately approve" - Yeah, I find his shtick a little grating and goofy... but I really appreciate his change of direction where Shohei is concerned: "we're going to let him have a say in his workload" - that's a huge reason, in my mind, that we're getting to witness this incredible season for the ages... The hard limit from the prior regime would never let this fly... I also kind of think that with all of the turnover in the lineup this year, it allows an environment for Maddon to really experiment and show his "mad scientist" side - I'd like to think we'll see less of that with a solid and stable lineup on the field...

A pretty good read on how important Slegers was in the Rays series win over the Astros in the ALCS

It sounds like he would have been a lot more valuable (even though Rays fans love him) if not for how stacked their bullpen was.

@Erstad Gritin videos I've seen he's sitting low 90's with a slider at 86 as well.

Any time you can work “flummoxed” and his nickname “The Slegend” into an article, even AW can smile...

  4. I"m definitely in the "Vlad-by-far" camp.  He's the only Angel I'd stop whatever I was doing to watch his ABs - he was magnetic - And no doubt: Trout is a much more complete player... I'm real leery of overweight guys in the second half of their productive years (Mooo, Cecil Fielder, Pujols, etc.), so my excitement was always tempered... but I'm a little surprised Kendrys isn't getting more play...

    1 - Vlad

    2 - Greinke

    3 - Shohei

    4 - Pujols

    5 - Kendrys Morales

I'm more into the flexibility lineup. I spread and balance it out.

    1. Fletcher/LaStella -2B

    2. Pederson/Goodwin - RF

    3. Trout - CF

    4. Ohtani/Pederson - DH

    5. Rendon - 3B

    6. Upton - LF

    7. Pujols/Walsh - 1B

    8. Simba - SS

    9. Castro/Stassi - C

When they promote Adell they either place him in the 2 hole in front of Trout or slide him down to 8th and everyone moves up a slot.

We haven't seen a lineup with that kind of depth since 2002...
