Being a Raiders fan, I'm crossing my fingers that all goes well. I won't get my hopes up until it's official. I believe it shouldn't be too difficult to get Los Angeles, Bakersfield, Orange County Raiders fan bases to buy season tickets or even packages. A decent portion (1/4) of the Oakland fan base will still continue to be loyal season ticket holders. The Raider Nation is known to travel well, I don't see any reason for Las Vegas to be any different as they'll also be home games. At the very least (worst case scenario for Raiders Org) the stadium will sell out with opposing teams fan bases making it a weekend vacation. The local fan base hasn't really been polled or measured officially yet, but I do see a lot of Raiders decals on local vehicles. There may be a bigger contingent of Raiders fans in Vegas than most outside media suggests.

VHF and mrwicked summed up the great parts of Las Vegas pretty well. To have a great experience you have to know yourself and find the places that give you energy. If you truly care about your time it's best to do your research. The strip in general is an obvious facade, but there is substance in entertainment variety, quality restaurant choices, and gambling options. The horror stories or personal bad experiences should be treated like incidents in a vacuum; a bias of small sample size . If you only hangout at the Excalibur/CircusCircus/Stratosphere for example you are going to experience a different Vegas than say the Mirage/TI/Venetian/Caesars. You will have the weekend warriors who come in and treat Las Vegas like their own personal shit show and I think that can be misleading to those who treat it a bit more responsibly. With my limited experience of 5 years, I run into a lot more of the no judgement, relaxed, do-your-own-thing kind of people. Perhaps that's more of a cognitive bias/perception because I choose to hangout at places that invite that mindset. As a poker dealer/player I spend a lot of time on the strip and it's consistently pleasant. Las Vegas is very affordable living and like most cities there are some bad areas and some beautiful areas. Red Rock Canyon is a great place to hike and unwind. Off the strip establishments (ie Frankies) are charming and welcoming. The 24 hour aspect and no last-call spoil me. I love Las Vegas and I plan on living here until my last breath. Is Vegas a dump? No.

vegas is awesome! we go a few times a year.
we have it down to a science. amazing restaurants, shows, cabana day by the pool, gambling, bottle service at clubs (don't always do this though, just if we have a group because waiting at the bar for drinks at a club takes way too long), etc.
there's a great steak place at golden nugget on fremont street we like to hit up called Vic & Anthony's. very classy, old school legit. legit steak and cocktails.
if you do it right it's a f*cking blast. i love that town.

Having come here for years as a tourist and having lived here for the last 19 years, I have an opinion or two to offer. As far as the Strip goes, I prefer the Strip of the 1980s to what is there today. The huge megaresorts have killed most of my desire to even go down there, unless I am going for a specific purpose (concert, medical presentation, etc.). I always preferred Fremont Street as a tourist (the Plaza was generally my base here). The resorts are smaller and more personal, they are closer together, and you actually got to know some of the staff and they knew you. That doesn't happen when the hotel has 7,000 rooms.
As with most cities, there are good and bad areas. People who never leave the Strip don't know half what they believe that they know about the city and the surrounding area. We have schizophrenics begging on street corners in the same city where the Sultan of Brunei owns a home. If you like entertainment, be it music, comedy or production shows, nowhere tops it. Odds are anyone who you want to see will eventually pass through here. Five star restaurants abound, as do a lot of great local places that are more moderately priced. There also aren't many places where you can win enough while you're waiting in line to pay for dinner. The one deficiency in the city's entertainment portfolio - professional sports - is about to be rectified. There isn't another city in the country that is better prepared to host big events, and a wide variety of them, be it NASCAR, the National Finals Rodeo, CES or the Electric Daisy Carnival (which seems to have found a permanent home at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, after several cities who hosted it said that they never wanted it back). This has also become a regional hub for college basketball conference tournaments - four at last count, I believe.
We have 300 sunny days a year, and pretty much an unbeatable climate. The old joke is that "it's a dry heat", but honestly, anything 105 or under isn't uncomfortable with 5-15 percent humidity. If you want snow, a 30-minute drive to Mount Charleston or the Lee Canyon ski area will fix you right up. You are also within a day's drive or less of several national parks and major western cities.
The general attitude is live and let live. If someone is judging you, odds are that they aren't local. That is one reason that the group from Sister Wives moved here - because they would be left alone and people really don't care about their personal business.
No state income tax, and some of the country's lowest business taxes.
Medical care here is lacking. Local hospitals don't have a great reputation overall, and for top medical care most people go to California. The establishment of a medical school at UNLV, which is soon to open, may help to change that, as may the arrival of providers like the Cleveland Clinic.
As far as the gambling angle of it, I don't do much at this point. When you have to get all of your gambling in during a 2-3 day period, your attitude is different than when you can go any time 24/7.

No matter if you are in Europe, Asia, the Middle East or Australia, may 2017 be the Angels year.
May everyone have a safe and happy 2017.

It may feel like it, but this team is greatly improved over last year.

Really hope Eppler has at least one more major-league arm to add, but this is pretty good so far.

Like the pickup, he fits the profile to a tee in terms of defensive coverage, speed off the bench, efficient base stealer, and the ability to put the ball in play as a pinch-hitter as well. Good signing and didn't cost us anything other than cash.

    1. Jett Bandy hit 173 with a 196 OBP in the last two months (Yes, that's a small sample, but so was the 2 months before that made you love him. If a guy has 2 good months and 2 bad ones, whatever comes last - as the league has seen him - is probably closer to the truth.)
    2. The Angels got 2 players for him.
