Cobb fits halo plan for 6 man rotation. Bundy, Heaney, Canning, Quintana, Cobb first 5. Barria, Sandoval or Ohtani number 6. Sandoval can start year in minors or be long man in pen. Barria if no other starter added can be number 6 and Ohtani can take his time with no rush to get him back. Still have Detmers, Suarez and maybe Chris Rodriquez in waiting.

Odorizzi, Paxson and Walker I believe are holding out for 2 or 3 year deals. Risk on those pitchers are greater with history of injury. Alex Cobb on a 1 year seems to be a lower risk. Minasian has a plan for future which includes halo rotation. I keep reading will have to replace entire rotation next year. Canning, Barria, Sandoval, Detmers, Rodriquez and maybe Ohtani is a start for 2022. Many options in trades and free agents will also be out there. I for one am glad we do not spend big on Bauer. I feel Angels will contend for west this year and make run at a playoff spot. I hope to be at a playoff this year.

His last 4 starts ERA was 2.61.

Bauer more of a NY type of guy than Anaheim. He loves the spotlight, Anaheim more of a laid back type of town. Bauer like Cole has used halos to get better contract. Let's go get Odorizzi or Walker and some bullpen help.

I do not believe it's just about who offers the most money. Bauer has indicated certain things that he wants.

It was obvious Hand wanted to be closer it will mean more money for him next year. Plenty of lefties to pick up if that is what Minasian wants. Tony Watson, Sean Doolittle, Jose Alvarez, Justin Wilson, Oliver Perez or Jake McGee. I would sign Watson or Alvarez or just use what we have on 40 man roster. I would like Minasian to sign 2 more starters Odorizzi and Walker. Bundy, Heaney, Canning, Quintana, Odorizzi, and Walker in 6 man rotation. Barria to bullpen, Sandoval to minors and if Ohtani comes back just be a big plus. Halos always have injuries to rotation and this staff would really have depth you would need.
