I feel like the entire internet is trolling me and frankly I'm not happy.

I’d love Bauer on a one year deal.  Or even a 2-3 if he were willing to do so.  He’s the one guy obviously who could.  But a 5-6+ FA contract for a pitchers 30-35+ years.....history tells me that a bad decision/investment. 

This is why, in the end, as much as we want to see move *NOW* .. it would serve us best to just wait, wait, and wait.  Come February, there will be a lot of players who will be looking for work, and of course, when supply greatly outstrips demand, that is when bargains are found.
Guys like Bauer will still get paid, so if we are indeed in on him, go for it, but for most other aspects of the team (relief, corner OF, etc) - I would wait for awhile and see how the market looks in February.  It is unlikely we will see teams suddenly start spending significantly this offseason.

Do you really need to ask?

I suspect, given the virtual nature of the meetings, we may not see a lot of traction this year in comparison to years past.  Also, given the uncertainty of when the season will actually start, etc etc .. I think the vast majority of signings and moves will be in January/February, as more clarity into the season is gained.

Why trade detmer?  That makes no sense.  Dude is about ready for the bigs.  We finally have some good SPs like Detmer and Rodriguez- you keep those guys. 

They really shouldn't have legalized pot because you've smoked yourself stupid. You just elevated a guy with a career 91 OPS+ stat line to that of 2019 Mookie Betts.

When Trout says it's ok.  He should be understanding of such a situation considering Torii Hunter did the same when someone better defensively came along and he was getting up there in age.  It's not now though at all....maybe 2022 or 2023.  

The thing about CF is, neither Adell or Marsh are vastly superior CF than Trout. Trout is visually better than Adell. Marsh is about as good as Trout, but certainly not better, at least not yet.
The only prospect who is visually, undeniably better than Trout in CF is Jordyn Adams, and even then, Adams lacks refinement.
Trout should stay in CF until...
1. He can't. 
2. Adams isn't traded and develops.
At any rate, I think you're still looking at 2-5 more years of Mike Trout in CF. And that's a good thing. He isn't the best defensive CF, but he is top 10. 
 
 
 
 

Seeing stallings in the trade makes this a thumbs down for me.  One year of a good defense / no bat MI is not worth the potential 6+ years of stallings.  I’d have rather played the waiting game and picked up something in FA/non-tender group without giving up a decent SP prospect.

Don't love or hate it. If the money makes getting good pitching happen, I'm good with it. If they whiff again, I'll be more annoyed. That said, I wasn't planning on any big names at MIF anyway, and I'm glad they got a SS (and that his name doesn't rhyme with Bibi Drecktorius) so Fletcher can stay at 2B.

Pretty much how I see it. Not sure why you trade for a guy like this when similar players can be had on the open market. Minasian must really like Iglesias, or think some of his offensive spike is sustainable. I highly doubt it is. I vaguely remember him starting one year hitting really well, maybe 2013 or 2015, and then coming back to earth. Players go on hot streaks, and that's all 2020 was. Chances are he's the 85 wRC+, good fielder that he's always been.

It's not a bad trade, but not one that I would've made. Iglesias isn't a bad player, but it's unlikely he's a particularly good one. The 3.5 million dollar price tag is right around what I would've paid for him on the open market.
So losing Stallings and Pinto doesn't seem worth it to me. Stallings is your typical college starter. Solid bet to be a 5th starter or swing starter. And Pinto is your typical lotto ticket. High potential, little refinement.
I like Iglesias, always have. But I'm not entirely convinced Iglesias at SS and Fletcher at 2B is going to be so much better than Fletch at SS and Rengifo or Barreto at 2B. 
On the upside, the Angels shed enough payroll in non-tenders that Iglesias doesn't really mess with their money available for pitching.

I do think keeping fletcher at 2B is the smart move.  

The big takeaway: Minasian isn't confident in Rengifo/Barreto. My guess is one is moved in a trade and the other becomes UT.
This is very meh. Iglesias is a 2 WAR, 90 wRC+ player. Not very exciting. But he's solid, and Stallings is decent but didn't project as better than a #4-5 starter.
But this isn't "saving money for Bauer." There was no certainty that the Angels would spend on MI, with Rengifo and Barreto, so it is added 3.5M payroll. The downside is no Wong, who is much better than Iglesias.
My hope is that James McCann is up next, which would really shore up the lineup.
