If the report was accurate, the Yankees offered Snell 6/150 in January.....what are the odds that Blake Snell makes 150 million before he retires? If the report was accurate, the Blue Jays offered Chapman 6/120 last year. Same question. Not Boras' best work for sure. He doesn't always read the market correctly.

It's not really. It's the total money. The likelihood a 33 year old Snell will get another $150-190M in free agency in two years is almost zero. Now was his time (last time) to cash in.

He's a guy that read what Onley said and ran with it.

They meaning Geoff and I? I think everyone (take race & gender out of this) should be champions of people who have been falsely accused.

and to me, it would make the team substantially better.
But I don't know man, the baseball people in the front office wouldn't trade Ohtani because they thought they had a chance to make the postseason and liked their chances at retaining the superstar, yet most of the players knew all along he was gone.
The disconnected from the people down on the ground and those in the front office is mind boggling.

This whole doom and gloom thing is a joke. A simplified generalization. Yeah, the Angels lost Ohtani and Trout and Rendon can’t stay on the field, but the Angels core is in better shape now than it has been in a long time. Let them percolate for a year and they’ll be a nice surprise sooner rather than later.

Angels in 2030 reacted to greginpsca in Arte reveals he is not planning to sell, budget will be lowered, and no update on stadium talks with Anaheim in interview
I don't have a problem with a smaller budget, if that savings is put back into scouting & development. I would like to see us getting players on the upside of their career, rather than the downside of their career.

I'll support the team in watching a lot of games (friend lets me use his mlb.tv account) and will always be a fan but I dunno if I can justify traveling to watch them in person for the upcoming season. Won't be buying any merchandise either. That'll show him...absolutely nothing as he will still turn a profit and continue to make terrible decisions annually. This franchise is a shit show.

The alarming part is I don’t trust him to know what would and what would not “substantially change the team.”
So if he is going to now be more of a miser, it seems like we should just expect to be terrible, but at a lower budget. I am jacked to buy some tickets now!

Honestly, if he's gonna spend a pile of money, I'd rather a bunch of it goes into player development, minor leagues, amateur scouting, etc. Get us out of the perpetual bottom of the organizational rankings. Please.

Not spending money on this clown org. I'll go to little league day but that's it.

Angels in 2030 reacted to totdprods in Will the Angels make a big move?
Why? I think he’s tremendously valuable.
Just don’t think the Angels are going to be good enough in his remaining years of control, and we’ll see him walk or get injured or become ineffective before the team is good enough to either capitalize on his performance or cash it in for a worthy return.
The Angels are the ones hurtin’ me.

Exactly. Each year this team sucks even with huge performances from Trout & Ohtani. As the season goes along, the lack of depth is on full display with very little bench and farm system available to get thru the long 162 season. The lack of producing any stars is obvious. But even more telling is simply good depth players available and on hand when injuries occur. You can twist the narrative all you want to make excuses for the Angels and be a homer. "Gotta support the team!" -- as Puddy would say on Seinfeld. But we have 10 years of data -- facts are facts.
Hopefully, one day soon, we can put that behind us and get back to the Stoneman days of true farm system building and player development. It requires a sea change though. This organization will linger in apathy/insignificance until then.

Sure, but we aren't winning and haven't been. So many teams have guys that are as good as those and in similar volumes. The rest of the Angels have been so bad for so long that we've grown into thinking that a few young guys contributing anything is exceptional. Also, is been a year. We've had Fletcher, Walsh, Borjous, Barria, Canning, Suarez come up and look good for short periods of time.
The system was bad and still looks bad.
