2-6 since Giolito appeared in a game for them, and 1-4 since the Cron/Grichuk trade.  Not much of a stat guy but I don't think that's a good re-start

There comes a time when you see the writing on the wall.  It starts at the top.  The Owner is a POS and an IDIOT.  Everything flows from there, like excrement rolling down a hill.
Ohtani is a once in a generation player, who is going to get astronomical offers from multiple teams.  He tells you that his priority is winning, and you check your scoreboard and notice that he has not played in a single Playoff game since he entered the league with your club.  And in this do or die season, you take being 4 games out of the last of 3 Wild Card spots, as a positive development, you would have to be a Moron to think you have any legitimate shot at re-signing him.
Do they think that he's going to fall for the same BS that apparently Mike T. did?  What's their pitch gonna be?  Give us 1 more chance, please???  In fact, give us 10 more chances, because you're probably going to get offers for 10 year contracts, and our record over the next 10 years, can't possibly be worse than our record over the last 10.
PLEASE!!!!  We're so close.  This season (if we're lucky,) we're only going to finish 6 games back of the last Wild Card.  Eventually, the league is going to have 5 Wild Card teams, and Then.....Look Out!!  Here come the Angels, making the Playoffs with an 82-80 record!

Ohtani should have been traded last year when they would have received a decent return on his value. Instead the Angels went full retard and dealt high level prospects for late rentals this season. It’s actually quite impressive to watch in real time. Apparently you can make a ton of money in highway advertising and still run a baseball franchise into the ground. Bravo.

Honestly worth it if Arte decides to sell

Because the front office is delusional. That's it.

Good/playoff teams find ways to win. The rest find ways to lose.  You should know by now which side the Angels are on.

I don’t know if there’s any possibility of this at all, but part of the reason I like the Angels going for it is that, if it fails and they miss the playoffs and lose Ohtani, maybe Arte actually sells the team.
Like maybe this is him giving it his last shot and if it doesn’t work, he leaves the “mess” for someone else to clean up.

They probably screw that up and not know how to find and hire good people for scouting

As much as many Angels don't want to think about it, there's a fairly strong argument to be made that the best thing for the organization's success the next 6-10 years is for Ohtani to leave via FA.  In the first 1-3 years, maybe less so.  Although that $50-60M could be put to good use with a good GM.  But after a few years, that contract could be a killer.  He's simply not going to be able to sustain the elite SP / hitting production to support that salary year after year.  Not to mention an injury, which is more likely as he gets older and continues to play both sides.
But if you care more about the name brand of Ohtani being an Angel for life and all, then all of those issues do not matter.  The most likely scenario that plays out with this outcomes is you have Trout+ 2.0 -- amazing top shelf HOF as an Angel for life.....without on-field / playoff success.

I'm not sure how anyone can keep pushing the company line here on the trades.  Escobar, Gio, Leone, etc.  It's so....freaking...bad.  You can't make a huge trade for a rental and be 0-2.  You can't.  Especially when you already were chasing several teams from the outside looking in.  Admit it was bad/stupid.  I don't even blame Perry as much because i can't imagine him being that dumb.  I'm 99.995 sure this was an Arte demand.

Your first point is valid. The rest we will agree to disagree on. Nearly half the 40 man is injured, that is most certainly not applicable to every team. Anyways, I'll drop it now, enjoy the rest of your day.

6 games in to 25 games in a row against teams over .500. 2-4 is not a good way to start at all.
26th now if batting with RISP this season and with RISP and 2 outs. It's killed them this season.
Of the guys with a significant number of at bats:
    Renfroe .173
    Rengifo . 200
    Ward .211
    Trout .214
Ohtani .306 and Drury .303 the only consistent clutch hitters they've had all season. Moniak was too, before falling off a cliff the last week.

How were they doing before the injuries?  Not leading the division.  Don't tell me Gio/etc. now makes the Angels so much better -- because both Texas and Houston got WAY better at the TDL.
Seriously, being a fan is great and supporting the team.  But don't turn your head away from facts and reality -- they can prevent you from turning into a soccer mom.

What is your counter argument? 'wow...just wow.' Well said.
Fact is they are 5.5 (about to be 6) GB despite having everyone in the opening day lineup sans Renfroe and Ohtani missing significant time. I would say that is good enough for over a 6 game difference. Your rebuttal? Let me guess: "Noooo, just no"
